Remake expectations this winter

All they will need to do is have a shot of Cloud in a dress, sit back and watch the internet go crazy. That is all I have been hearing people talk about in this remake.

Luckily I don't care about a shot of Cloud in a dress(Because I don't have a picture of it in my head appearing anytime soon). More like screen-shots of the development of the characters in certain familiar scenes in HD full render in early development to give people an idea on how far Nomura and the current team are at.

That's what I'm expecting, as well as a little written detail update.

I think Reunion would be fitting. But knowing Nomura, it'll be some Latin phrase.

I'm dreading the name to be honest. For all the duodecim prologus 358/2 012 re: chain of dickface crap we've had to suffer through, I'm just crossing my fingers it doesn't sound as stupid as any of those did (or indeed the compilation titles, which are less offensive but still a bit pretentious sounding).

It would be easy enough for them to just go with 'FFVII: Remade' or something else simple and to the point though, right? I mean it's not worth confusing people with complicated titles, is it?

That's just not how SE think though. I mean we've seen hope recently in the form of the new Dissidia game, which is literally just called Dissidia Final Fantasy.

I would be over the moon if they just put Reunion in the title, but they seem to have an aversion to doing anything that seems too obvious for no reason other than "it looks cool" or "it sounds cool". And maybe "it looks and sounds cool" in Japanese, but in any other language it's just something you want to avoid anyone ever hearing you say out loud.

I remember when we were naming HypochondriacPiano's audiobook music album, we came up with a few things that I remember thinking sound like a remake title. Ill see if I can find them. One of them was Return to the Planet.

Everyone is just gonna call it "the FF7 remake" anyway. So they should just call it Final Fantasy VII. But who knows what they'll do.

I don't think the remake will have a new title. If anything, it'll most likely keep it's original name, like the remake of FFIV.

If FFVII was to have a new title, it would be the sequel to DOC finishing up the Compilation. I have a feeling that's what will happen.

For the record, I'm following a thread on NeoGAF right now where an industry insider claimed previously that the reason the port has taken so long is because there's been a retranslation. Huge news if true.

I really hope so. I actually tweeted Alexander O. Smith ages ago to say it would be awesome if he was brought in to localise the remake, and he said something like "that would be fun!" I really hope they got someone good for this (if they have done it) and the remake.

I'd actually give this a try if they retranslated it. Sure, the remake is coming. But the original itself always deserved to have a better translation.
And not like Square Enix is beyond retranslating rereleases of FF games. Some of the classic games received multiple ones!
