Probably going to be a fun game to play. Kinda stoked.

BUT NOT AUTISTIC INVENTORY MANAGEMENT FUN LIKE THE ORIGINALS.

Don't think it is really a spoiler, but in regards to Mr X's appearance...
Getting Dolph Lundgren vibes from Mr X, and upon google searching simply for Mr X without mentioning Lundgren, apparently I'm not the only one :P.

Some parts of the recent trailers don't seem familiar. I wonder if they're adding new bits.

Yeah, there are a couple of new areas, and indeed some monsters, mixed into the game. One new area that has been officially confirmed is
the Orphanage
.

Lots of insights into the Remake including some really cool information about certain aspects. There are minor spoilers within this.

I mean, this game was already shaping up to be amazing. Having
zombie bodies being left where they fall for the entire duration of the game, is incredible enough, but add in zombie's invading a room, the fact that you will have to be strategic in your backtracking of the locales and can't fight every single zombie that you encounter is just music to my ears.

Just played through the demo.

The small 30 minute snapshot that they provide you with met all of the expectations that I had concerning this Remake. The atmosphere and tension is spot on, the graphics are great and really compliment the gore and menace of the zombies, and the marriage between what is familiar from nostalgia alongside the injection of new aspects and curve-balls is balanced expertly. I have wanted zombies to be important again for so long, and the Remake does exactly that. Zombies actually feel like a threat again - never knowing when one is fully killed, knowing that you simply can't kill them all, and the new mechanics of boarding windows to provide a small sense of safety is brilliantly done.

The tease of the story is also great. It maintains some of the cheesiness of the original but, again, updates it and gives it a more modern feel. The acting from Marvin is excellent, really setting the tone, and I love the comments from Leon as events unfold and he encounters zombies or sudden noises.

Being able to explore the RPD station, with all the secret nooks and crannies, locked doors, key codes and the like, oozes multiple paths and ways of doing things. The flashlight in the dark corridors really sets the tone, but I love that everywhere is dangerous, as even brightly lit rooms could contain a sudden shock or a threat.

And I absolutely love the quality-of-life improvement to the map, where you can now not only see what is locked, or areas explored, but what it is locked by, any items you left behind, and important aspects highlighted.

The special trailer unlocked regardless of where you are when the 30 minute timer expires is exciting and shows the love poured into this Remake. Seriously can't wait for the 25th. This small impression of the game is everything that I hope the VII Remake will ultimately be.

Played the Demo last night; I suck, so I didn't get very far (basically just got the shotgun, saw that time was running out, so used it to chew through the zombies in that hall after you run up the stairs past the darkroom). Really, since you only get the one 30-minute shot, and I know I suck, I should've skimmed a guide beforehand to give myself the best shot of utilizing the 30 minutes to the fullest, BUT...in any case, the game is amazing. Claymore, you basically hit the nail on the head...it blends the old and new in such perfect fashion that it manages to recreate the SPIRIT of playing the original. Back in '98, playing RE2, those zombies WERE terrifying, and the game did feel cinematic, and keep you on the edge of your seat. While it's still a fun game to play, those aspects have faded with time...but in this RE2, the zombies are terrifying again, the whole thing feels like a super-tense film, any time there was the sound of breaking glass or a distant moan, even if it was probably just the sound of one singular zombie, I aimed my gun and flashlight wildly with white-knuckles. THIS is what Resident Evil is supposed to be!!

Talking with a friend while playing the demo, we were discussing a 'games as film' comparison, action games as action films, horror games as horror films, etc. We were basically saying how, back then, horror games were about on the level of creating slasher/b-movie type horror films, Return of the Living Dead, things in that vein. Now, they've reached the level of being able to emulate more sophisticated intelligent horror films..."28 Days Later" is the one that comes to mind in terms of 'zombie', but I'm even thinking of a cut above that, even. But yeah. Excited.

EDIT: Btw, how about that location-specific damage?? Even with the handgun, I was loving taking headshots, or taking out their legs so they couldn't come after me. Then, for the brief time I had the shotgun, I was BLOWING motherfuckers in half!! So great
