Clear PT quotation going on. I think it is a good direction to go. Bring the franchise back to survival horror.

I'm hyped and very excited for the return to survival horror. Also very happy with the shift to first person for this.

Now I just need to renew PS Plus so that I can play the demo tonight.

The last RE that actually scared me was RE1 and then 2 and 3 we're good games, fun to play. I lost interest with RE4 cos it just wasn't RE to me, just some sort of nutbag zombie shooter.

Anyway, this looks promising

As one of those rare souls that enjoyed all the Resident Evil Games, it's great to see even though that trailer doesn't really tell us anything.

The way things are going, I might actually get a PS4 pretty soon.

And yeah no way I can play this on VR. I'll manage it normally though. Keep in mind Sony said the entire game is playable with VR from start to finish, not that it was exclusively for VR.

That requires me to play 6 though, I never got round to it even though I really liked 5 (what can I say, Chris Redfield has delightful arms).

I'm reading conflicting information about this. Some media are saying that it is a sort of demo / beginning of the proper game. Others are saying it is a test and you won't play as that character in the full version. Other reports are saying that it is confirmed that you do play as first person for the game's entirety (which would make sense with the full VR angle being built for this).

So yeah, not sure what is going on at the moment.

A switchable view would be nice, though very odd that they wouldn't showcase this. I personally wouldn't mind it being entirely in a first person perspective, though the fandom is going mental at the moment with this glimpse of a 'return to horror roots'.

In any event, there's always the 2 Remake if people don't take to this, but I'm very intrigued right now.

Try to keep in mind that what was shown at the conference (and the subsequent demo) were shown during the VR showcase.

You're right about this being interesting though, that article is great. This'll be their Resi 4 2.0, so to speak. 4 was a complete reinvention and this looks to be the same deal.

I also love how they have officially recognised that the STARS members are pretty much comic book heroes at this point. Dialling it back to a normal protagonist (with the originals featuring more in the background of events) is a great call.

so is anyone playing the teaser/beginning hour? i've only managed to get one of the endings (because i kept missing the item for the other one). the whole 'short demo with numerous mysteries to solve' feels a lot like p.t. along with everything else p.t.-ish about it, but seeing as konami isn't going to make a p.t. someone else might as well

(unless this game turns out not to be like p.t. in which case i'm doubly sad)

i have re 1-6 and code veronica on my ps3 waiting to be played so i might get around to that at some point

I've just seen that there is a Resi sale on at Steam. 6 is down to like £5. Ugh. It's not quite hell on earth yet, but at that price ... hhm...

I don't know what to think at this point. I watched several playthroughs of the demo, but if they're saying it's got nothing to do with REVII itself then...

Like right now I have literally no idea if the demo is even occuring in the same universe as RE or if it's just something showing off the gameplay/user interface or what.

Cos they're still using the subtitle/title 'Biohazard' which obviously doesn't tally with the seemingly supernatural stuff in the demo (I was watching on youtube and there are actual ghosts)

I guess I'm kinda disappoint that the story in the demo probably won't be continued.

In Japanese, where the series is called Biohazard, they have the subtitle as "resident evil." So who knows, lol.

The funny thing is 'Resident Evil' as a title didn't give away any plot points for the original game. I played it thinking the zombies were supernatural up until about halfway (or whenever you discover the lab) If it had been called Biohazard I would have known from the outset and I don't think I would have found it quite as scary.
