ugh fuck eureka needs to go...

I wasn't 100% sold on Mrs cracker but no negative critiques on eureka for those outfits was absolute horseshit

OMG how did I not notice this thread it shall be my new home.

ANYWAY

I just watched the latest ep and yeah I'm not a Eureka fan and really wish she'd gone home earlier. I really like Kameron? Strangely. I know she's in the fandom hate jail at the moment but for some reason this season she's just really impressed me. Like she's that kind of queen who has a very specific look, it's the shape of her face - queens that look like her tend not to do well i.e. Nicole Paige Brooks or Kelly Mantle AKA don't wear bacon realness. But she's knocked my expectations sideways this season, aside from that ep there. I do wish Cracker had stayed over her, it felt a little unfair although tbf Cracker has really just missed the bottom by the skin of her teeth for like 3 episodes this season.

Sorry bout it but I dislike Aquaria. Having said that I think I like her more than I liked Violet on her season, I'm just not into that whole acerbic kind of not really in the moment aloofness, it's endemic in the gay community. I'm stereotyping her which is bad but from what I've seen on the show she's similar to some of the super femme guys I've known who just kind of breeze through life and get everything handed to them - maybe I'm jealous lmao. Good for aquaria for doing well and don't get me wrong some of her looks have fucking slayed the house down boots but I'm iffy on her personality and have been starting to get annoyed at the possibility of her winning from the ep where she did the superhero costumes.

I also like Asia but I feel like she's a smart bitch and knew exactly what to say when the cameras were around a la Bianca in S6. Specifically not mentioning Phi Phi for example (or it might have been edited out).

But yeah disapppointed in that ep.

Also what is happening with the lip syncs this season? I feel like the song choices haven't really lended themselves to potentially epic performances. In S8 the performances were poor and some of the songs were good, in this season the opposite is true.

I love Kameron! She's been the unexpected lewq queen of this season. I definitely underestimated her in the first few episodes, but I'm glad she is still around. Plus, she seems like a genuinely sweet person on top of being a total cutie. I thought she did better than Cracker in the challenge, so I'm not gagged by her staying. I thought that the bottom 2 placement was pretty BS tho - it should have been Eureka vs Cracker imo for that bottom 2. That red/green twin thing Eureka was wearing was horrifying, and their weird "oh but she sold the character so well" justification was soooo weak.

I'm mostly just... sick of Eureka being shoved down my throat in the edit. The last big girl who had a chance of winning was Ginger, who was my pick for her season. I don't think Eureka really compares and I'm sick of the overselling of mediocrity. Though to be fair, Cracker was flatlining for a while as well. The difference is, her one win didn't feel forced, and her previous high/low placements felt more justified in context. /shrug

I like Aquaria for the same qualities I appreciate in someone like Aja. I think she is a very talented designer and I enjoy the field of references the millennial queens pull from. I do get you though. Aquaria a pretty twink who obviously comes from money, and her drag mother is Sharon Needles of all people. It's all incredibly off-putting. I felt the same about her as you during the pre-season hype. She's grown on me during the show though. The way she's presenting her TV-persona is relatable to me. I can identify with the tongue-tied, shy person who comes across as a bitchy asshole :P

I don't have much to say about Asia other than I really like her. I think her design perspective is very interesting. I would honestly appreciate a final three with her, Kameron, and Aquaria this season because they've made the runway so consistently fun to watch. I know they're gonna pull Eureka through tho, so it'll probably be Aquaria-Eureka-Asia.

I have nothing to say about the lip syncs other than I am upset how they did my girl Carly Rae such a dirty :'(

They might do a top 4 again though? I mean it's looking unlikely if Kameron doesn't outright win whatever they're doing next week, but idk if it'll be a challenge or the usual end-of-season weirdness. There's that, then a reunion, then the crowning.

Honestly I'm shocked by how much I like Kameron. It's nice to see a genuine introvert on RPDR lol.

I'm quite behind on the season, but I'm up to the Cher episode. I didn't mind Eureka earlier this season, yet now I'm going off her. I'm Team Aquaria at this stage.

Yeah I getcha, as I said on FB Kameron kinda got Valentina'd but I saw that "face" they were talking about and that was kind of an eerie moment.

And obviously there was the whole Vixen drahmz, I don't know how I feel about all that. I know I love Asia and RuPaul would never miss a moment to make himself the homo Oprah he desperately wants to be, shudder.

I know that I get/ Support Vixen's political POV and even agree about the creation of a false "angry black woman who is a bully" narrative, but there's a narcissistic streak in there and honestly if she expected anything other than to be poorly edited/ criticised by her actions on the show and the finale then she'd be disappointed. I don't think she expected anything different. Tbf I think she nope'd out as soon as she realised she was going to lose her temper again, which at least means she's smart enough to know they were going to do everything they could to set her off for some drama. And she was correct for the most part about Eureka and how Eureka produced those moments on the show. Vixen is savvy, but IMO just not likable even if I respect what she actually stands for. Even when clearly trying to maintain her decor and make a statement by keeping relatively quiet for the first 10 mins of the reunion, she still ended up being a little hypocritical when she let some of the emotion out, which is why it's difficult to just flat out defend her. Yeah she's saying/ standing for the right stuff but she's also unreasonable. And I totally get why but I just find it hard to like her because of that. The one thing RuPaul got correct tonight is that she denied herself the opportunity to say more about how she feels, but I also sympathise with her need to walk away after saying what she had to say because I too struggle to keep the best of my own emotions when I feel a certain way. This has legit been an issue for me in work.

I forgot to say one of the things I did actually like about the reunion was that the "how are your homophobic parents now" bits weren't all "omg they're totally cool with it now and it's all because of YOU oprupaul" bullshit, those stories actually felt genuine (and heartbreaking).

Man, this felt so contrived. I was on Kameron's side on this one tbh.

re: The Vixen

I think on a macro level, The Vixen is justified in what she's doing. On a micro level (as in, her interpersonal relationships and how she's comes across on camera), she is really messy. I think I wouldn't find what she was doing so hard to watch if she was open about the fact that she was intentionally stirring the pot. I think she entered the competition with an agenda, and thought she was able to handle the inevitable backlash more than she actually could. That's the impression I get from her anyway.

Tyra Sanchez, season 2 winner, pretty much sums up everything I want to say about Rupaul's behaviour on that reunion. At this point I am pretty tired of Rupaul as a host. I find her weird pseudo-psychology and constantly talking down to younger people increasingly hard to sit through. She sounds like every single out of touch older person complaining about entitled and out of touch today's youth are.

Tyra has been problematic as fuck, but I don't think that undermines how well her article articulates why I hate interacting with this show a lot of the time.

Tyra 007 said:
You said, “White people have judged me for being black, black people have judged me for being gay, gay people have judged me for being too fem” but not once did you mention what Vixen was referring to or talking about. GAY PEOPLE JUDGING YOU FOR BEING BLACK.

There was a real opportunity for the show to take a good look at this issue, but totally dropped the ball. Instead, we get Rupaul's self-aggrandizing, bullshit attitude. Honestly, Asia was completely in the right here. Maybe I am coloured by how much I dislike Rupaul these days. To me, Asia was really speaking to what all queer people should be striving to embody within their communities. Rupaul on the other hand seems to have completely checked out of even pretending to care about these people's emotional trauma, other than to exploit it for the sake of drama or controversy.

It just let me frustrated and tired. It's really sad because as much as I love this show, there are times when it feels like an embodiment of why I can't stand being part of the LGBT community at all.

^ that fan art is sickening!

Also, double the meh for me. Kameron was the only one who wasn't trying desperately to outdo Sasha Velour last year.

I'm posting this here because I'm afraid of Reddit.

I know this show is completely calculated to what they know the audience wants but I find the finale to this season particularly... delicious.

Gigi Goode was easily the fan fav skinny fashion twink to win. Jaida, who you can't argue is her equal in every facet, is unexpectedly not quite as favoured because of the colour of her skin.

Maybe its because of the news in the US rn and booze) but the fact that Jaida won feels so... satisfying.

I know this show has a hand on the pulse of what the fans want but damn. It got me.

My friend from high school was rumoured to be on this season, but I guess not :(

Septum ring, stick n poke tats, terf bangs... Yup, Ilona is the most quintessential personification of the East Vancouver aesthetic, lmfao. I hope she reps the hood well and goes far ^_^
