I've seen a bit of it being played. It seems like it's trying too hard to be funny to me. Apparently I'm in the minority tho as everyones screaming its praise.

I got it on Tuesday and was not able to stop playing it until I beat it last night. It's extremely entertaining, crazy, awesome, hilarious and fun. It has so many shout outs to other video games, your ship is a parody of the Normandy and there's sections of the game that are from the first two Saints Row.

I loved SR2. Played the absolute hell out of it. I bought SR3 and was a little disappointed because it just became stupidly wacky in an attempt to appeal to all those sandbox gamers that wanted to do away with realism completely.
This one looks stupidly wacky in comparison to the third game and I will definitely not be picking it up. In my opinion they've done away with quality, as far as the game goes, in favor of adding as many extras and stretching the capabilities of the player. It doesn't look like a bad game but the quality of the series certainly has gone down.

^ You make a fair point, the wackiness isn't for everyone.
But I think that the developers didn't want to make another GTA clone, so decided to turn everything up to eleven and just go nuts with it.
Saints Row is basically if Grand Thief Auto said 'fuck it'.
To me that's the appeal.

Aye but it was clear that Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto were different entities from SR2. It had a believable story whilst also being tons of fun and at time insane. It was the perfect game for anyone that loved the city-based criminal sandbox genre but didn't want to take their cousin Roman out for bowling every ten minutes.
My major issue isn't that it went wacky, though, it's more that the quality dropped. The story isn't believable, the game isn't humorous and it has little else backing it up than the ability to DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. That has major limitations though. I'll still play GTAIV here and there because I am doing crazy stuff in an enviroment that is believable. I can't say the same for SR3 because it was wacky from the offset so doing crazy stuff loses a lot of its impact and becomes stale really quickly.
Overall it's a sandbox game with nothing going for it anymore other than the fact that it's a sandbox game. These are just my opinions but they come from somebody that loved the franchise. The greatest part about the SR franchise before was that it didn't take itself TOO seriously. Now, though, any touch of impact or seriousness is completely lost because of the wacky and insane setting.

Love, you ask anyone how addictive FFXIV can be. I hate those dilemmas when you have two games that are amazing and you can't choose. But thank God I've resolved it.You should be ashamed of yourself that you took this long to play the game even though you had it basically from day one. Bad Ami.
Also, I keep doing the Kinzie scene just for the fun of it. I can't get enough!

I have The Grand Finale and then I've finished the story. But I'm going around doing everything else first before I do it. And then roll on the DLC!
Kinzie is definitely hilarious and into some weird shit.
Asha was amazing, especially about being on top and you don't get to talk.
No matter which gender you are, Pierce don't swing that way but he's down.

Shaundi's was too teasing. I WANTED TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT.

How do you get Gold on those racing activities?

So I'm frustrated.
Picked the game up again from last month and the Inflato-Ray has gone missing from my available weapons. It's annoying, as I've completed all other weapon challenges and just need that one to finish. I've uninstalled the game as well as my Online Pass and Commander in Chief, and now re-installing them to see if the problem's fixed. Did this happen to anyone else?
I've also posted on PS3Trophies.org, just to see if anyone there experienced the problem.
