Wasn't it said somewhere in Before Crisis that it's implied Sephiroth went 'crazy' when he took out Avalanche operatives in Junon - that it was a gory mess?

That was a weird scene. "Oh no, the people I came here to murder have been murdered! The horror!"

Yeah, I think that's just bad writing. It's the total destruction that she's taken aback by. Like how his sword has literally cut up the entire room. Seeing dead people is one thing, seeing them totally mangled as if a bomb has gone off when you know one man with a sword is responsible for all that carnage, that's something else.
