Ah, then perhaps there was confusion on my part. I do in fact mean editing in the traditional sense, spellchecking and grammar and all that shite.

And hey, I can also be the resident spanker if need be ;)

All Admins (&everyone else, but admins especially) please read.

I realise I'm triple posting but:

Creating the usergroups and setting the permissions is easy enough. Flintlock, you should now have the permissions but your user title isn't appearing (it did once then it disappeared). I seem to be missing permissions to edit user title hierarchy and I need all of the new user groups to appear as the same colour.

Everyone pick a colour, we're all going to be the same (me too). I vote Lifestream green.

Now Flint is the example: I got it to display on his postbit for a short time and then it disappeared. I tried to emulate what my profile looks like in the backend but vBulletin wouldn't let me set the same primary and secondary usergroup.

I need to have a sit down with Aaron or someone who knows this and unlock whatever I can't access to fix this before I can do everyone elses. Once one is created it's simply a matter of copying those and changing the names, editing the forum permissions is easy enough. I've been at this for two hours trying to get it to display properly and no one is here so I'm stuck until tomorrow or whenever I can chat to Aaron :monster:

And Aaron I know you're good at getting stuff like this done but if you could explain it to me so I can do it in future that would be grand, I don't want to keep bothering you for this stuff and it means I can get into it when you're not around.

Essentially what I need to know is:

How to make the user title display on the postbit
How to set a colour for the user title (a la the donator colours)
How to set the title to appear directly below the username

I'm missing the permissions to do these things.

cheers in advance bubba <3

When you edit a user, what you should be able to see on the right is a dropdown for Primary Usergroup, and checkboxes for secondary usergroups. If a user has both a primary and secondary usergroup, a second dropdown will appear labeled 'display usergroup', which if I'm right will be the usergroup whose visible styling will appear on the poastbits:

But it looks like you set it already. I think Flint should have a site staff set as primary usergroup though, because of permissions and shit (idk if he still has the same permissions now).

As for setting the user title colour and title position, that'll take a template edit, and it'll probably be applied for every user :awesome:. You'll have to tell me exactly which title goes where though, my brain hurts trying to differentiate between the three billion titles everyone has now.

Someone remind me to post about this after I get home from work. Thanks. It should be possible to do a lot of this stuff without template edits if done smartly enough.

Community Manager has the same permissions as a section mod aside from the ability to see mod forums, infractions and warnings, and give out infractions and warnings. I think I've done all of that correctly. Essentially it's the sit contributor role + the ability to move threads etc. All the other editor roles will have the same permissions.

The idea is to replace the Site Contributor role with all of these. Essentially I tried to copy what's going on in mine (Site Director in all 3 categories with Donator Orange ticked aswell) but vBulletin wouldn't let me. And if you take a look at Flint's posts, the "Community Manager" role isn't appearing on the left of the post bit. idk why

To clarify Yop, I can see all of those options, they're just not doing what I want them to do XD

@Lic, I'm hoping to just have the editor user titles appear as the green colour (I'm also fond of the gold), though if people would like our usernames to go this colour too I suppose we could do that instead.

Ok, so first of all, the "Community Manager" isn't showing up because you didn't make a user rank for it. You can do that in "User Rank Manager". I'd recommend copying the formatting and settings from other existing ranks, then replacing with the appropriate colour. Depending on whether you want there to be other staff ranks for the Community Manager you can either select "displaygroup" or "always" for when to display it.

The user colour is editable in the "Usergroup" manager under "Username HTML Markup". This mostly won't require template edits, but if you want them to be able to use their own custom username colours it will require a template edit that I'll do myself because it's very easy to screw up the postbit. Let me know what usergroups need to be included and I'll edit them in.

Was there anything else? My reading comprehension isn't the greatest today.

I don't have the permissions to edit User Rank manager, therein lies the problem. Please give me these permissions :monster:

Ideally I want the new user titles to display in Lifestream green (equivalent to the site graphics/ materia balls, bright etc) but not the actual usernames. I promise I won't fuck anything up if you give me the permission to do that either, again this is one of those things I should be able to do. I shall be very careful <3

I spent a great deal of time reading about these kinds of things on the vB forums so I do know what to do, it's just a matter of getting the permissions.

I'm not sure why you don't have those permissions, nor am I sure which permissions I need to give you for you to have them. What exact hex code do you want to use? I'll just do the thing myself for now.

Yeah but that doesn't exactly help us with the other 10 usergroups that need to be made. I can see "User Rank Manager" but I can't add new ones/ ones that I've created aren't appearing there.

And the thing is it might not look so good so I was gonna experiment with colours.

That seems to be more of a blue blue, at least on my screen it is. It's almost the same as the G in google

According to the vBulletin manual you should be able to edit user ranks. I dunno what's wrong. Are you sure you don't have the option "Add New User Rank" below "User Rank Manager"? Because you should.

Lex

I do now :monster:

I screwed around with my own permissions (I know, bad me). I looked at a screenshot of a "regular" admin backend on the vB forums and indeed that option wasn't appearing, I've managed to sort it. Though I'm not sure how I was able to give myself permissions I didn't already have XD. FLAW!

What permissions did you alter? Because when I looked at your permissions it said you should already have access to the ability to edit users, which should have given you the ability to edit user ranks as well.

As for how you were able to edit your permissions, maybe Yop has you set as a super admin. That's the only thing I can think of.

I guess it doesn't really matter now (plus I don't remember XD), I finally got it to display correctly. HOORAY!

EDIT: Is there a way to set user title colour (specified in user rank manager) to override custom colours set by users on the left of the postbit? ala SMod etc. It appears correctly on Flint's because he doesn't use any customisation options. Lic's will appear properly aswell.

Good god that green colour clashes horribly with gold. Before I create any more of these usergroups, does anyone have another colour suggestion? I can set this colour to your guys's default username colour if you like.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Which is probably because my dog kept me up for a lot of last night and consequently I forgot how to brain.
