So... aliens. Looks like they're significantly hostile in a new and interesting way. It's just a teaser, but I can say that I've been... sucked in. :awesome:

Oooohhh this has potential to be good. Although I hope it takes an original turn rather than be a rehash of Independence Day or War of the Worlds.

I always enjoy these types of movies though xD.

YAY I love alien movies. They're always so good - lulzy- creepy! Definitely going to see it, I've been itching for a new movie to watch and this is perfect.

I am sad that the date it is coming out is so far away. T_T

Looks familiar to all the other alien invasion movies, :monster:.

Never would've thought the Protoss were into vacuuming though.

Is this a different film from Battle: Los Angeles, or the actual title for the film? Sounds very similar in synopsis.

First, I was surprised 'cause I wondered why you guys were talking about the Nissan car. Turned out you weren't, of course :monster:

After watching the trailer, heh... how do I say this? I'm not overthrilled, personally. This looks like an Nth movie on this theme, a bit too showy on the special effect - and it looks way too much like a game rather than a real thing - so... yeah, I think I'll pass.

*goes back to read her Asimov, grumbling* XD

Seems like it will be fun to watch. Not Oscar material mind you (outside of special effects) but fun all the same.

But I'm making this assumption off of seeing people get sucked into the sky. :/ I should reserve such judgment for when more is revealed.

Looks alright, but I think Monsters looks better.

I wouldnt look forward to Monsters too much if I was you. It was shown at South by Southwest and pretty much everyone said it was shiittt...

It's about an alien that comes down by the mexican border and starts multiplying. There's a photographer thats there with his bosses gf (?) taking pictures of the results of their attacks. He's gotta get her back to the states but they miss the ferry, so he has to take her through hot zones to get her back.
It starts with a sweet scene of an alien attacking a military group, but then it turns into a boring ass road trip. The aliens only show up as a lil tentacle in the corner every now and then. There's a part where they're on a boat, and all you see is a plane attack, and then a tentacle float by in the water.
There's only 3 major scenes involving them, with the last one being all the aliens holding onto each other with the couple seeing it as beautiful then walking away.

In the reviewers words describing the quality of the films dialogue:
"So what do you do?"
"I take pictures"
"Of what?"
"Dead kids"
"Oh thats kinda fucked up"
"yeah"

This is from a guy who listed Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus as his number 1 film of 2009, but also loves stuff like The Road for its artistic value and whatnot. He was bored as hell, and people fell asleep watching it in the theatre.

Also, allegedly they had no script while filming and told the actors to improve

Ooohhh the more I see of this the more I want to see this. It looks pretty epic.

The part where the helicopter gets attacked as it is just coming to save them is awesome. The sheer size of the aliens is a nice concept too....I know, I know most mainstream alien movies they tend to be larger than humans but these are huge, the enslavement/mind control, like X-SOLDIER said, is a nice touch.

question: Is that Donald Faison from scrubs?

That part was wicked. It's a totally interesting concept to have such MASSIVE aliens, and not just human-sized invaders. So intriguing.

And yes, it is.

Not as interested.. the fact they couldnt get decent actors (at least in the trailer, they're shit) doesnt speak well for the overall movie imo.

Seems like an emmerich to me. Big impressive effects/scale, shit everything else.

The beginning of the trailer looked like Transformers. :P

It seems like it could be cool, though.

oh my god this movie was terrible, watched it yesterday.

the cg seemed like the actors were filmed and then they badly added in cg.
the effects of the blue light were so goddamn inconsistent, why the aliens need brains was never actually explained, none of the characters were very good, ESPECIALLY not MC's girlfriend who is quite possibly the worst actress i have seen in a movie, aliens being that huge makes no sense why they'd go to earth and just eat everyone, and the MC being able to resist the creatures by taking over one of them in the end just really made no sense.

in short, this movie is bad, and the directors should feel bad for making it.

Trust me they're not. :monster:

This is the Strause brothers we're talking about, failure should be expected. The film was made on $10 million dollar budget, and I believe the film grossed around $70 million. Nice profit for a relatively cheap film.

And, these are the same guys that directed Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, which was probably one of the worst film's of the year it was released.

They just need to stick with their visual effects company, and step off the director's chair since they have absolutely no talent for it.

Their visual effects company Hydraulx was hired by Sony to work on Battle: LA. That's why Sony attempted to sue them when they found out about Skyline. Sony suspected they used resources they had gained from working on Battle: LA. :monster:

But, the lawsuit was dropped, iirc.

well considering a lot of the cg in skyline just looked terriblem there wasn't much of a reason to sue in the first place. :awesome:

Strangely enough, I actually liked it, but it did have a lot of stupidity.
I hated Jerrod (MC)'s gf, she was so fucking annoying and yeah, they should've REALLY explained the brain-thing better. However, I did like how Jerrod managed to takeover the alien body. Thought it was a cool plot twist, tho it should've been better explained as to WHY.
This movie really needs a sequel or something to really explain a lot of this, otherwise it's more of a turd standing on it's own.
