When you download a PSone game to the PS3 from the PSN store, can you use your memory card's save files to play it? Or will it not load those save files?

Can someone who knows this answer me please before I drop the cash and get the PSN version of FFVII?

There isn't really a slot for a memory card, so I would think not...

First you need to buy the Memory Card Adapter for the PS3 and you need to insert a PS1/PS2 Memory Card into the Memory Card Adapter and then you must create an Internal PS1/PS2 memory card. ^^

There is a thing as a memory card adapter which plugs into the USB port and allows you to download all your memory card saves and stuff to the PS3 hard drive :monster:

@Akemmi

Thank you for that. That I know however. I'm just wondering will a PSN PSone game actually load the PS3 internal save file or will it be incompatible for whatever reason. I just want to know. :monster:

Np *smiles*

All I know is you can transfer all your save files on to a M-card that you can make on the ps3.

You can trasfer saves back and forth between the ps3 and ps1 or p2 cards as well with it.
You still have to save to the p3 while playing p1 and p2 games.

As far as I know it should work. I hope I've helped you somewhat.

You gave a lot of info and help but I'm hoping to hear it from someone who's tried what I'm thinking before and can tell me first hand. Surely I'm not the only who's tried this. :(

I'm sorry! *laughs nervously*

I have thought about it myself but I don't have a ps3.

I am downloading the game atm though.

Oh well. I still have the OG and a backwards compatible PS3 so I'm not really missing much. Kind of surprised to have ACC, FFIV-2, FFVII PSN, and the FFIX annoucement all in the same day though.

Wow thats pretty good. Its definitely better than the stupid prices people put it on ebay for.

How long would it take to download?

Ive been tempted to get a ps3 for a while, and i'll be earning a good bit the next 2 week, so maybe. This definitely peaks my interest

Took about an hour for me to download it. Seems to work fine. Looks like crap, just like I remember it. Put smoothing on, not a whole lot of difference. Still gonna be great having it on my PS3 now, though.

No, the translation is exactly the same. In fact, I don't think any of the PSone games that are on the PSN store are changed at all. I got RE: Director's Cut as well and again. It's the same as the original. You won't be getting anything different but the game, now downloaded onto your hard drive. :monster:

So I guess people who already have this can just pass on this one.

Too bad. Because Square-Enix Wii Shop releases did have translation changes every now and then.

Does it fit the screen better than playing through the PS3/PSP connection?

Most likely :P

I may pick this up tonight doesnt seem like such a bad price and its only a gig too.
My connection downloads at 500kbs and it should take like 20 mins :P

So like a decent 200kbs speed would do it in less then an hour to :)

Just realised something,

Do i need to get a PS1 memory card and memory card adapter , then make a virtual memory card on my ps3 in order to save the game , or can i just save straight to the hard drive?

I dont want to get this and then have to hunt down an oldschool card and then get 15$ accessory ill only use this one time :P

I don't know if you need to create a virtual m. card to make saves for PSN downloaded games. I don't think you need a PS1 card at all for this.

Hope that answered your questions.

You need to make a virtual memory card if you want to save your game. You don't need a real memory card.

If you want to use your saves from your original memory card and stuff, you have to upload them to the PS3 onto its virtual memory card through the memory card USB adapter.
