I mean the character booster....its already the easiest thing in the world as it is *facepalm*

you can't defeat a boss? click "auto-victory" and your problem is resolved :monster:

btw, i'm pride because i've lost only against Sapher-Saphiroth (but i knew that i was too weak for him that time) and Ultimate WEAPON (but i had only Vincent fully alive and Cid almost dead. Red was dead). and against Ruby and Emerald of course.

i have the original pc version and for me it's ok. i don't need genesis in cloud background :closedmonster:

I wonder if some Japanese pride is involved in this decision... Maybe Yoichi Wada noticed that Japan never got a PC port for FFVII and figured this was unacceptable, so he's planning a PC port strictly for the Japanese? Who knows.

I'm not going to spend time being angry or sad about Square's decisions. It serves no useful purpose to me. At most I'll laugh or shrug at what they do.

There have been a few updates made to the site; nothing new. Just bio's of the main characters and links for desktop wallpapers. It's really seeming to look like it's just a re-release of the PC version of the game unfortunately...well isn't that nice.

I'm not totally sure how the copyright thing should work, but shouldn't it say "2012" somewhere here?

Now why would it mention 2012? Silly, that would suggest they actually created something new, worthy of copyright that year.

They don't need to issue a new copyright since this is the same franchise/copyright they established those years ago.

According to the link about it, Square have no announcements to make about FFVII at this time. I kind of agree that it might just have been an idea someone was throwing around rather than a definite plan.

Seriously? Is THAT where we are as FF gamers now? We need the ability to just flip a switch and just turn the game stats up to maximum? What the fuck is the point in that?
Persona 4 The Golden, the PSVita port, has a 'safety' difficulty setting that's easier than easy and will let you redo any battle you lose so you can enjoy the story. This sounds like it would just be another incarnation of that kind of support system.

I honestly don't get why you get so worked up about the existence of these kind of features. As far as you can tell from the little bit of description, you aren't forced to do this. It's an option that's there for people who might want to use it.

... this warrants buying a domain name and a new site? OKay then...

At the very least they're going to have to do some kind of updating on the backgrounds, because without the mods from Qhimm they look AWFUL on modern PC's. They also won't get away with releasing the music in the midi format that came with the original PC version.

I'm tempted to speculate that it'll be Eidos handling this port anyway, considering they did the original. The original PC version is easy to install with a few nice programs developed over at the modding forums now anyway, so unless there are any major updates (which I doubt) I'll be giving it a miss. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they actually tried to implement some of the mods on said forum, considering they allow the game to run in HD without looking like a pixelfest. If a bunch of dedicated fans can do that, why can't the company?

The stat booster thing really doesn't bother me. That's about the only way I would be likely to replay FFVII these days: if I could avoid the time-consuming tedium of leveling up.

Of course, I'm not very likely to play it on PC anyway.

I'm not really offended at SE's laziness on this one. More disappointed and morbidly amused.

The only "hard" aspect of FF7 was beating the post-game Weapons and finding all the Materia (the stuff in the Snow Fields was hard to find, for me personally).

The rest is pretty straight forward.

As for a PC version...well...nah...not worth it if they aren't going to put in any touchups to it.

Interestingly, it says "Optimised for PC" - Play Final Fantasy VII on the latest hardware.

I'm creating the news post now.

Why does the video slow down and speed up like that? If it's to match the music, I can't tell because I don't have sound on my work computer.

I wonder how soon "soon" is, anyway.

You'd think they'd simply show and tell what's new about this PC version in the trailer instead of editing together a bunch of CG scenes that looked flashy 15 years ago and act as if this should excite us. :comedian:

Yes! Does anybody know how game mods will work with this? This is a wonderful opportunity to finally play the game on a real "hard" difficulty, so I'm excited.

Does anybody know of a mod that updates the script? Oh man, the possibilities here are making me shake...

You know all of those things are available with the current PC version right? If anything, because this is an unknown quantity and the original PC version is now incredibly easy to mod, it seems unlikely that this'll be getting modded at all. There is a difficulty mod available for the PS ISO files aswell, by GJoerulv on the Qhimm forums.

Also, I put this in the article but I thought it was interesting. The site mentions the system requirements as:

Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit)
2GHz Processor or faster
1GB RAM
DirectX 9-compatible graphic card

When the original requirements were:

Microsoft Windows 95
133 MHz with 3D accelerator card; 166 MHz without 3D accelerator card
32MB RAM
DirectX 5.0 compatible

LOL! They're definitely upgrading something!

Imagine that this is truly the remake and we're just being trolled with the trailers and stuff :awesome:

And imagine the FFVII remake being on the PC! Now that would be double-trolling. Oh, Square.
