Street Fighter

I think Street Fighter is my favorite fighting game. I played super street fighter 2 as a kid and really didn't know what I was doing but I still loved it. Later I enjoyed it even more when I learned how to do the moves. I currently own SF Anniversary collection, SF IV, SSFII, all Alpha, EX+Alpha (horrible game) and I can't wait to get SSFIV (waiting til I get back home to get my PS3 for it). What's your view on the greatest fighting game franchise of all time?

I'm trading in my SFIV for SSFIV. Different metagame, yes, but I'm not hardcore enough to spend months at a time trying to learn how to stand a chance against the community anyway.

Also, the 360 D-pad sucks, otherwise I'd be so much better at the game. :monster:

My view is that it isn't the greatest fighting game franchise of all time.

I always wondered if I was missing something, since the only one I've ever played was an arcade machine of SFII when I was on holiday as a kid. Because I did spend my holidays playing arcade games :awesome:

I might try SSFIV, though.

That's why I own a PS3. I'm accustomed to it's controller design and I just like playing online for free. By the way, from what I've seen SSFIV is amazing. I'm going to by it when I go home before going to my next duty station in Virginia.

I've been playing Street Fighter since I was a kid. Hell, I've been playing fighting games in general since I was a kid. Street Fighter IV is my current game of choice right now, and it's a lot of fun to play online.

What is amusing that is playing on a PC version is so much easier than any other console version of Street Fighter IV.

Really says something about the keyboard and the controller, huh.

I play between Dan and Sakura, and if I'm feeling serious, Ibuki, although one of my friends is trying to make me play someone else because one of his friends mainly plays Ibuki and Sakura as well. idgi

Dan is honestly quite functional, and everything about him in Street Fighter IV is an absolute hoot.
Except for one of his victory poses. Ew.

I fucking hate Street Fighter 4. That is all.

Haven't tried Super yet.

I mostly only remember Street Fighter for the SNES version where Cammy flashed her ass at me whenever she won. Why I liked using her. :p

Yeah, you mentioned that before, I think, I didn't get the chance to ask you why.

What'chu hate about it?

Mechanics didn't click. Too many moves changed from what they were.

I also spent an assload of time playing Third Strike. SF4 is too different, I can't play well as anyone in SF4.

That usually happens from Street Fighter to Street Fighter, especially within SF 'series', like comparing the Alpha series, to say, the Street Fighter III series (very different). Street Fighter IV definitely has its own groove that you have to get used to, but once you do, I'd have to say that objectively, it's a legitimately solid fighting game.

I know all that, thanks. I don't like SF4 for what it is, and I have more fun playing other fighting franchises than SF at this point.

Of course and that's okay. I was just addressing at why you thought SF IV was objectively terrible (or at least that's what I thought you were saying.)

Well, if you ever want to play a game sometime, feel free to shoot me a line.

I think I will wait for VF5: R thanks.

I just had difficulty trying to learn SF over in 4, and it wasn't fun. People kept telling me to get a stick, but I'm not made of money.

If it actually comes out on consoles then hell yes!

Street Fighter never did much for me, to be honest. I bought SFIV in the hopes to understand what the fuss was all about, since I'd never actually owned an SF game before then, but after clocking the game, I got bored fairly quick. Kudos to Akuma for being a badass though. I should've known better than to buy SFIV, with the super version of it coming out now, but I think I've bitched about that enough times on this forum.

Perhaps off topic, but not by much, Marvel versus Capcom 3 looks a bit overblown with the flashy graphics. I don't like these games where you press a few buttons and you pull off a 32948048284 move combo. I like the games where you earn every punch and kick you deliver, damn it =P.

Favourite character to play would have to be Ken. Zangief is a cheap character in SFIV, since you can just do the same move over and over and defeat the game on highest difficulty =P.

When I first played SFIV in single-player mode, the main characters that gave me grief were Abel and Zangief because the bots simply spammed the same grab and well BAIBAI FUN GAEMPLAY

Partially occured because I suck but at real easy mode I don't think this is supposed to happen anyway. What gives? :monster:

Also, Sagat players continue to give me grief.

I'd like to remind everyone that if you're playing a fighting game, any fighting game, but you're not playing with other people, you're missing out on 80% of the whole point in playing.

If you're from Australia, like myself, you can't enjoy online play. Lacking gamer friends also makes it impossible to have a fun challenge either =P.

Clearly because there's no way to practice your moves with a character other than going online and getting your ass whooped by some guy several thousand miles closer to the servers than you are.

And as of today Sagat players still give me grief Thankfully whenever I rock over to my friends' place only one of them actively uses Sagat, so I end up coming about 3rd out of 10. :monster:

Well...yeah, not really! Playing another person and playing online are entirely different when it comes to fighting games.
