I wonder if we're gonna live in a world where the sonic movie is generally more well regarded.

Now that we're stuck with him as the choice, I could theoretically imagine him doing a decent Mario voice if he does a Martinet impression. But I'm only forced to think that because this is the reality we live in: where Chris Pratt is Super Mario

There are some alright picks. Anna Taylor Joy is probably the best cast out of all of them. But as a whole? Man, we really have to get over this whole "animated features need A listers or else no one will see it" mentality. Are people at large really going to the theaters to see Chris Pratt? Or are they going to see Super Mario?

I fucking took a nap and woke up in a damn Twilight Zone episode.

There ain't no way this cast is real. I'm in a fucking joke genjutsu world where Bayonetta 3 fucking exists and the newly announced Mario movie has CHRIS PRATT as MARIO and Keegan-Michael Key as TOAD.

Not to judge here, but they could have at least chosen Mario's in-game voice actor as the main role as well as Luigi instead of having the guy only in a cameo appearance(or cameo voice). Chris Pratt is already getting a movie released next year and that's Jurassic World: Dominion which was supposed to come out this year, but ended up delayed due to the you-know-what.

My biggest concern is how Jack Black is going to ruin Bowser like Jim Carry ruined Eggman in the live-action Sonic movie....At least in my opinion. No offense, sorry.

Whether it somehow succeeds or fails, it'd be interesting to see how left-field it is. As far as I'm aware, there has already been two Mario movies, and neither really follows closely what I'd consider Mario "canon", nor are they really referenced again in the Mario franchise (again, as far as I'm aware ). Granted, the animated one existed quite early, with not much lore to work from. Still, I would like this tradition to continue . I feel quite the opposite in regards to Sonic, which I'd like to keep as close to the source material (especially of the Mega Drive/Genesis era) as possible with creative though non-surprising developments .

Jack Black Bowser is awesome.

Chris Pratt Mario is... Tolerable.

But I like the animation, the character designs, overall aesthetic and humor. This might actually contend with the Sonic movie adaptation.

I'm eager to see how this goes!

After hearing that Miyano Mamoru is the Japanese voice for Mario in the movie, I am incredibly interested in watching the Japanese version lmao.

I was in Japan over Thanksgiving and went to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Osaka.
