You underestimate the pure magnitude of seeing a film of such technical artistry in it's true glory.

Were it not for that crap, I could not justify purchasing this film a second time, not even for the new scenes.

For that a rental would suffice.

I'm guessing it'll be the latter since having a BD player and no HDTV wouldn't make sense...and playing BDs on PS3 with an SDTV only outputs in black and white...=/

I don't have a PS3 or Blu-Ray player yet but I've never heard of it only outputting in black and white on normal TV's. :/

It's very common actually. I'm thinking this might only apply to PAL TVs though. Maybe BDs are played back in NTSC and PAL tvs will display NTSC signals in b/w without using the proper cables.

I have a PAL SDTV, and played that bonus BD that came with the Japanese special edition of Metal Gear Solid 4 on it just fine.

But NTSC signals (for DVDs or older consoles as well) displaying in black and white is a problem with older PAL SDTVs (and maybe something to do with wires as well, I don't know ).
