The physical game

Hello chaps and chappettes.

I don't own a console. In fact, I'm having to buy a PS4 for the remake. I've recently heard that you won't be able to buy a physical Blu Ray of the game but instead only be able to buy a code to download it. If this game is 100gb, isn't this going to take several days to download?

There's going to be a physical release (https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/final-fantasy-7-remake-release-date-gameplay-2993127 / https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/0...iscs-each-episode-size-of-full-game-a-e3-2019). Even then, were it digital only, the download rate depends entirely on your own internet connection! You'll still have to install the data, though, whether or not you get the physical edition. A tip to make it go faster is to ensure nothing else in your house is using the Wi-Fi, and put the PS4 in Rest Mode—this cuts down on install / download times exponentially. The Division 2—also 100 or so GB—only took me a couple hours to download and install completely in rest mode, with a Download Rate of ~30 or so MBps.

Whoever said that to you is an idiot and doesn't know what they are talking about. If there isn't enough space to include a few more GBs into the game, then it will come as part of the patch on Day 1.

The Remake will be available to pre-download. So IF you buy digitally, you'll be able to download and install the game before the release date. However, if you buy physical, you'll have to wait for the game to install on the PS4 from the disc. This is not the same as downloading the entire game and takes considerably less time. A day 1 patch will likely be available, though you can play the game as this downloads separately. Hope that helps!

I'd be pretty pissed off if I couldn't get a physical copy of this game. I have the original and I want the remake in my hands, damnit! But yeah, the rumor is wrong. There will be a physical copy. Square Enix would be stupid not to release one as they'd cut off a huge, huge market for themselves by alienating people like me.
