I was tempted to post about this last night, but I didn't think there'd be an audience for it. Hah-hah!
I'm not convinced...Top Gear aren't exactly known for being serious. I have my suspicions that this is a clever ruse and the running joke for this series. Maybe we'll see a different F1 driver under the helmet every week.

From what I heard, The Stig is not just one person., but many. They're all pilots from several motorsports, like rally, F1, etc.
Thus, if they really wanted to revel who "The Stig" is, they would have to remove the live audience from the show, so that the several Stigs could be in the same room at the same time.

I would, actually, and it had been theorized on a number of occasions. Plus he's a good driver, and The Stig is too. COINCIDENCE?
Although it would be lulzy if they repeated this next week.
On that, the Dutch channel that broadcasts TG on a sensible time (9.30 PM on Saturday) sucks for still re-running five-year old episodes like the cunts they are.
