Watched it yesterday. I was particulary keen on Cate Blanchet's performance as Hela. Loved her gravitas,
even though the character could have had a little more screentime and maybe a more fleshed out backstory
. All the other characters were great, specially Valkyrie and Hulk. Most of the humor also flowed well with the rest without being overbearing. And the film is filled with great moments/details, like
Hela kicking Loki's and Thor's asses while traveling to Asgard; the flashback of the valkyries battling Hela; Hela ripping Thor's eye; Thor going all thunderous Super Sayan and Hulk's butt :awesome:

So yeah, all in all, loved it too :monster:

It was released here today, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It finally feels like the MCU is established well enough that they can play around with tone more in ways that really benefits them. Too tired to write more at the moment.

3.5/5 stars.

I disliked the way many scenes zipped by. It is nice to be grounded sometimes :P. The humour was good, well-timed, I really enjoyed it, but may have made some areas of the film that needed more dramatic intensity lacking in such. With that said, the film is totally different and better than the other Thor movies (I'll just pretend they don't exist or something). Cameos at the beginning were good too. If I could describe the film in one word, I would say it was "buoyant" :P.

Really liked it, laughed a lot, but
I think they played the "expect something big/epic/heroic to happen but then it's dumb and silly" card too much. I felt it around when Thor threw the ball at the window, but when Banner slammed into the ground it felt like it was overused.

Also, anyone else get the Willy Wonka reference? Outside of "Pure Imagination" playing, that whole bit plays exactly like that terror tunnel, with the lighting, the screaming, with a sudden cut to everything's bright and perfectly fine.

Just watched this movie today! It was fairly enjoyable but I feel like
they relied a little too much on the humor and every scene had this slapstick to it. It kinda felt like being around that friend that never takes anything serious and always makes a joke out of everything.

I felt like a lot of things happened too fast and would have been a lot more interesting if they were fleshed out more, but I can understand the time constraints but eh, it would have been cooler to see more of certain scenes.

Overall it was enjoyable, but I didn't feel like it was amazing.

Did anyone else notice that this was exactly Karl Urban's scene later in the film?
Standing on a rocky outcropping, with horned undead crawling upwards, shooting them with a machine gun.

Btw we can agree that the lighting and green screen/compositing in the Norway scene looked distractingly bad, right? I haven't seen a more unnatural looking compositing job in a major movie in a long time and it really took away from that scene.
I get this was a reshoot but come on.

Also,
I'm a bit upset that the Warriors Three mostly went out like chumps. Outside of Hogun they didn't have any lines and afterwards no one even spoke of them. You'd think you could at least throw in a scene of Thor being upset or something?
I guess it's a good thing Sif wasn't in the movie. I like to think she escaped all that shit.

It bugged me slightly that the Lord of Lightning apparently wasn't immune to that itty bitty electric shocker on his neck :P And the CG was distractingly bad at times as others have already mentioned but overall it was an enjoyable film. I really liked the flash back sequence to the Valkyries battling Hela *o*

Korg was a blast and loved the development Thor underwent. Grandmaster's half assed attitude gets me all the time especially when he was making a pass at Loki. My sister almost cried when
she thought Miek almost died. She love the critter so much because he looked badass and cute

"Natalie Portman will take the mantle of Thor."

I get that's what should happen......but she just.....can't......act.

It seems lame to me that they have to turn male characters into female ones instead of, I don't know, writing good new original female characters instead. I totally appreciate that everybody's mileage may vary here, and that some people yearn for nothing more than a female Thor, or a female Count Dracula, or a female Dr Frankenstein, and fair enough if they do - but I find it all really off-putting and am left thinking, what a fucking poverty of imagination is here.

You aren't wrong, Lic, but this one is a little different. What you're assessing applies to the comics certainly, where it's nearly impossible to introduce a new character successfully or boost the profile of an existing character without tieing them to the legacy of an already popular character.

I don't believe the movies have to rely on that quite as much, so Steve passing his shield to Falcon feels more like what should be happening rather than just a callback to the same thing happening in the comics for the purpose of boosting Sam Wilson's profile.

In this case, it probably wasn't necessary for profile boosting or ticket sales. Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Taika Waititi would still put asses in the seats even in a movie involving Natalie Portman returning as Jane Foster without the hammer.

To me, this feels like fans are getting a massive high five from Marvel. We not only fully get Natalie back in the role, but I think we're also looking at the celebration of one of those occasions where the legacy thing was actually pretty legitimately cool and well received -- and let's be frank, if you google fan photoshopped pics to see how this might turn out, Natalie's going to look freakin' sweet.
