Tifa's theme- vocal cover by Danseru-kun

Okay, move this if you think this doesn't belong to this part of the forum but while everyone is making a fuss about the elections I'm actually making my version of Tifa's theme. But I don't want this to be solely my own project and if it's okay with you guys, let's make this a TLS project because I do need help.

We have a recording studio at our house so I can record my voice (my dad 's one of the leading sound engineers here), but if anybody here can do the background music or at least someone who's willing please help me. I don't wanna just play Square's piano theme in the background. My dad will not be willing to help me with this because he thinks these projects are a waste of time and talent (well he has a point.)

Here's the DRAFT version, I did this in one take so there are some mistakes. I made a mistake "in the promised land" that's off key and the lyrics "I'll make you feel" is "I hope you'll feel" the lyrics were missing so I just recited what popped out of my brain!

Here are the lyrics by me, please correct me if there are some grammatical issue:

Yes, I spent nights writing those lyrics, and I hope I'll get some feedback.

If no one can help me with the background music, I'll just use the AC piano and do some magic here and there.

^I think is acceptable. You can add in the "of", if you think it sounds better with the extra syllable.

^Why do you think this needs expanding?

The words do not jive with the piano melody, if I'll use the piano track I need to add a line, if not, that would be enough. But let's see.

Always "with you" or "for you?"

^Depends on the message you're aiming for.

"With you" is Tifa always beside Cloud but does not denote emotions as much as "for you" which kinda implies her feelings are only for Cloud but on the downside it fits less to the context of AC where Tifa lectures Cloud. I want to choose the one that will fit her character better, what do you think is much more Tifa?

Awww thankies :3 I did my best to make those lyrics fit Tifa's character and FFVII.

I'm used to singing too, but haven't done it in public properly for... 5 years... *sad face*. I sing in front of family on the odd occassion . By myself on the other hand, watch out .

As for the with/for thingy, I felt that "for" sounded a bit wrong to begin with, but it has grown on me. I could see it fitting with Tifa lecturing Cloud. One can lecture people for their own good after all .

As for Aerith's theme, I don't think I can make anything that can be on par with katethegreat's wonderful version, it's on youtube. For Cait Sith and Cid, I don't think my voice will fit their character. But as for Cid, I can make a version where Shera's singing for him, but I don't wanna make a promise. I might do it if this Tifa one succeeds.

Barret's you'll probably want someone black for, perhaps MOG, and Red's you'l probably want whoever can do the best Sean Connery impression, since Nomura said he always imagined Red XIII sounding like Sean Connery. For Cid's, you'll probably want to get a chain smoking southerner to do his.

Well, if that's the case, who says it even has to be sung by Cait Sith? I personally always imagined it would be sung by a jazzy black guy who's singing about Cat Sith.

Again I don't wanna make promises but let's see if they are doable. Not all themes can be given justice by vocal interpretations. If you know Guilty Gear you know what I'm talking about.

I've just had the chance to listen to this Danseru, well done, you've got a really sweet voice.

Here's another vocal adaptation that I loved (from FFIX) you might find interesting:

T_T I can't remove the melody part from the track, I tried, does anybody here know how to? If not, does anybody know a willing pianist? Anyway if nothing works, I might just do an acapela, force my brother to play the guitar or record the track with the piano piece which I don't really like.

The only way to do that cleanly is if they were recorded on seperate "streams", otherwise you're stuck with messy levelling stuff that'll end up sounding bad.
