I'll be honest, I just watch these movies to see cars transform into robots and fight each other. I couldn't care less about humans or plot. as long as there's lots of giant robot fighting, I'm good.

If it makes you feel any better, Emmerich is equally hit and miss. While he did do "Stargate" and "Independence Day," he also gave us "Godzilla" (yes, that one) and "10,000 B.C."

"The Day After Tomorrow" falls somewhere in the middle for quality.

I never saw "10,000 B.C." But the original "Stargate" movie is full of win.

But yeah, I agree that "Godzilla" was awful.

Oh, I have fun watching it. I've actually bought all his movies except "10,000 B.C." I just know how terrible "Godzilla" is and can't pretend otherwise.

If you changed the name from "Godzilla" to an original Kaiju name (or even "Zilla" as Toho dubbed the thing when they adopted him for Final Wars) I'd find it a decent enough Kaiju movie. But its not fuckin' Godzilla

I liked The Island too, because the acting was pretty nice and Steve Buscemi is always awesomesauce

Gonna have to disagree on the first part, I thought the acting was bad all around except for Sean Bean because another entry in his glorious death reel and Steve Buscemi because he is indeed awesomesauce. He's the bright side in movies like Armageddon and Sandler movies in the new millennium.
