Website is up too: http://www.warcraftmovie.com/. It has a subtitle now, "The Beginning", which is Orcish for "If this movie sells well we're going to exploit the shit out of it y0". The Dutch site has a release date of May 26th though.

I think it'll be a good time. Given the material that Blizzard is known for, tropey isn't really unexpected imo.

^ If it fails it might salt the earth for Fantasy and Video Game movies for several years lol.

I thought shit like Eragon and everything Uwe Boll did already did that forevar, :monster:. Video game adaptations can work, I think, just as long as they stay true to the source material. I thought Tomb Raider went pretty well, and Max Payne could've worked if they stuck to the atmosphere of the games (first two, third is an aberrant... but it has funny voiceovers/oneliners) (and Sin City showed that film noir style movies could still work) (although a proper Max Payne movie would be depressing and grim as fuck, which is fine)

edit: also word jokes: Thrall is like a green Jesus, our saviorc.

Actually, speaking of video game adaptations: Activision Blizzard is pulling a Marvel and is setting up their own movie/series studio, starting off with a Skylanders animated show and with Call of Duty movies. The CoD movies could work actually, CoD is a huge franchise. I'd imagine it'd be in the same style as, and attract the same crowd, as the Fast & Furious series. Also I quite liked the single player wossnames a while ago, short as they may be. They couldn't do the WW2 CoD's though, those are basically game versions of Saving Private Ryan and Enemy at the Gates and such, :monster:

lol could you imagine how ridiculous a CoD movie would be if Michael Bay was the director? lmao :monster:

Urgh, please not; it'd not be a somewhat silly / over the top / dudebro war movie, but a movie involving a teenage Mt. Dew chugging, Doritos binging dude with a crush on some hawt gurl getting involved in a military operation, with most of the movie consisting of him and hawtgurl running away through explosions and drawing attention away from the cool shit.

Actually after I posted that I thought about and remembered Michael Bay is responsible for The Rock. If he treated a CoD movie like that it could actually be pretty great tbh

I like the way the magic looks in the movie. It looks how I expect some of the spells would look like out of game.

The fight between Khadgar and Medivh should be real eye candy on the big screen.

2nd official trailer; definitely a stronger Warcraft feel, or at least, the Orcs are more orcish. Besides that one female orc, who is er, more of a green human with teeth, but, it may be a half-orc I guess. Also wrong music is wrong. Anyway, better trailer / better impression now, w00t :monster:

Yeah that's Garona her last name is Halforcen :monster: Easily the best/silliest name Blizzard gave a character

edit: Don't read the first paragraph, or anything really in this Wiki entry if you haven't played the first Warcraft or know the story of the First War cause theres big spoilers on that page for the movie most likely :monster:

She's half orc and half draeni , thus why she doesn't look like other Orcs. Female orcs are generally just a big as the males lol.

That makes more sense then, I was almost afraid they chucked in a near-human character to appeal to teenage dudes' boners, :monster:. Draenei makes more sense than half-hooman, too, given how this (if I got this right) is the story about how hoomans and orcs first encountered each other.

@Pixel, now you mention it... it seems based on dubstep, but normalized enough again to turn into mortal kombat music, :monster:.

The music is The Prodigy's "The Day is my Enemy", so if you're wondering why it sounds like something out of the nineties... that's because it kind of is, though it is from their latest album of the same name released in 2015. If you ask me, it is probably the best thing in the trailer *nineties nostalgia*. I'm growing less interested in the movie myself.

"The Beginning" is the fucking lamest subtitle for any movie, let alone a film that already struggles to set itself apart from the swords-and-sorcery fantasy genre at first glance
