I don't care about canon and I assure you I have the tools necessary to change ff7 all I like. As far as I am concerned, FF7 is a stand alone game. The spin offs are all worthless cash ins full of plot holes. FF7 ended with the destruction of meteor and the death of jenova/sephiroth. There was no reason for ANY spin off or sequel except pleasing over enthusiastic fan boys and cashing in on a great game. It is time story writers stopped selling out. When you have a great story and it ends. It ends. (see babylon 5)

I prefer a game to have a sense of realism (even in a fantasy setting), and having a stuffed toy/talking robot cat following you about is not it. Other than that FF7 was a near perfect game imho.

I would have absolutely no issue removing him and working a story around a spy for reeve. Unpopular or not, I may just do that with my story based walk through in time, by swapping out Sith for a new model and changing the dialogue (obviously this wouldnt be used with my translation project).

Alright then, I will retract that. Change no plot, except cait sith. I have amended my list. Those are my personal preferences. I will edit the game soon and add a new story in the place of Sith But that will just be a fun project

I think Cait Sith's plot point was to parody sacrifice, when someone is going to die. The player doesn't realize this, of course, and they get him back later, so it isn't even a big deal, unlike Aerith's death.

Better graphics would be totally awesome.

Well already 2 people from Qhimms are agreeing with me. And that is within 5 minutes.

I really wouldnt care if I had 0 audience. I do things for the experiment, because I like the challange, because I like impriovement and to see where something leads me. I enjoy story telling.

And I predict there will be a lot of people who like the change., I cant see anyone other than purists being upset about the removal of a toy cat who is a ridiculous excuse to sell merchanise. I won't really be straying too far from the original plot, since it will still be a spy.

But a far more plausible one. Like I say, it is a hobby and I will see where it leads me. I don't do things because they arent met with approval of fans. If I feel something is better and an interesting project, I do it. Cait sith is the only part of ff7's story which is poor imho and the translation (since cait uses a different dialogue to reeve in the japanese version) is wasted anyway.

DLB: I read the script you put on at qhuimm. the dialogue is okay, but its too blatantly obvious that Cait Sith is a spy. At least in the real game that wasnt a first assumption. you gotta make cloud and the gang dependent on Cait Sith, meaning that they have to have an actual reason for keeping him on the team. Everybody whos on avalanche is in there for a reason or are at the least trustworthy. CAit Sith should be put on your team through circumstances that happen so incredibly fast you don't have time to think about him being a spy and shit. just sayin.

Seriously, as irritating as Cait Sith is, he has to say, everyone in FF7 had their plot. If we get to remove characters we don't like, remove Sesshiroth. Just make Jenova the ultimate villain and write Sesshiroth out. Or at least write him out of the present plot, keep him in the Nibelheim Incident, just have him stay dead afterwards.

Alternate Endings

What major storyline or battle system elements do you think the original FFVII was missing? This is not a what-background-color-do-you-want-the-menu-of-the-remake-to-be thread. It's major elements you thought were missing from the original title.

Major one, I think Cloud should have actually had a relationship with Aerith, making her death more tragic. I was also never quite sure of how big Gaia actually was, and how much space there was between each city-state.

I agree strongly with that idea. Infact I remember on the FF7 Citadel website there was an article that stated that Aerith and Cloud were intended to fall in love with each other. The letters you see there are actually from square and appear to be genuine. You can read the article here if you are interested (Or if you haven't seen it already ^^

I would have loved the game to have alternate endings depending on the way you treat people, How many side quests you completed and what characters you looked after more in the game (Similar to the system in FFX).

Preferably an ending where Aerith lives and Cloud pairs off with her but that's just an obvious one. Another one which you can choose Tifa.

I've always wanted to know more about Sephiroth as well so say If you did more research on Sephiroth's madness by looking at all the books in the Shinra mansion, looking into accounts of his missions when he was a soldier in the Shinra HQ, things like that and you would be rewarded with a better insight into what kind of man he really was, what he went through, his childhood, explaining more into how he was corrupted by Jenova ect.

I felt after completing the game it didn't really tie up lose ends which annoyed me but then again I think that all the mysteries, rumours, plot holes and secrets of Final Fantasy 7 are what has made it such a successful game and given it an amazing fan base which I'm thankful for.

Any outcome where Aerith lives is stupid and detrimental to the game as a whole.

Part of the reason it stood out so much was that she died, and there was nothing you could do to save her. It was supposed to evoke that feeling of emptiness and sorrow that death causes in real life.

Removing that is retarded and destroys one of the most important and unique parts of the game. FF7 isn't about shipping, or who loves who. Cloud's interests in whoever is a very, small part of the game.
