You make a thread on webcomics and don't mention Sluggy Freelance? D: Blasphemy.

I'm not even sure if its still running, or even how funny/relevant it is now. But it is kind of the godfather of the medium.

If memory serves me right, this has been updating almost daily since 1997/1998. So a full archive trawl might take you years.

My favorite webcomic is here: http://www.sinfest.net/

If you've never see it though you must be warned, if you dare start at the beginning and work your way up to the present (which you should!) you have a lot of catching up to do. The strip started way back in 2000 and with a few exceptions it almost always has a new strip daily.

I read sluggy freelance once upon a time, back in high school, but haven't in a LONG time since. I've also read some MSPaint Adventures, but not frequent enough to add it to my list of "comics I actually read". If it were a list of "all the comics I've ever read" it'd be a hell of a lot longer.

The suggestions so far are all awesome btw.

Also of note: Shortpacked! is possibly the most geek-friendly webcomic ever made. Again, I haven't checked it out in awhile. But I used to be really into it and its prequel comics (Roomies and Its Walky). Though never quite on par with the labyrinthine, sprawling, random epic that was Sluggy Freelance.

I absolutely love this webcomic (So Common, So Cheap):

http://scsc.smackjeeves.com/

And this one (Arcana):

http://arcana.comicgenesis.com/

^I really like this one, because her art starts out very sketchy, not very detailed, but as it goes along it gets better and better. :3

And my favorite artist in the world sort of started a webcomic, but never really went anywhere with it. ;-; I still love it though. <3 (H.I.S.)

And of course I love Hanna is Not a Boy's Name

Pure absurdist awesomeness. The creator got hired to write Deadpool recently. Be sure to scroll your mouse over the picture for some alt-text. Sometimes it's funnier than the actual comic.
www.drmcninja.com

Ecchi story about a girl who gets turned into a spider-woman with 6 arms and becomes a super-hero. There's frequent jokes about comics and is very self aware. One of the villains is a Twilightesue vampire who runs a coke lab cause it's easier to sell the coke to buy blood than it is to hunt down people.
http://www.krakowstudios.com/spinnerette/

General humor comic with a lil geeky edge to it. Updates EVERY DAY and on the weekends he comes out with a dennis the menace type comic about the main character when he was a kid.
http://leasticoulddo.com/

From the same guy who does Least I Could Do, it's a fantasy comic set place in an mmo-style world, tho he's gone more towards pure fantasy than video-game. He hopes to create a lore as rich as Gargoyles with this comic, and you can't fault that.

Fun lil comic with more than a few gay characters. I'm not sure what else to say about this other than I like it.

Same as above, only with no gay characters.

lol X, Page 1 of QC doesn't do the comic justice anymore :monster:

Seriously guys go to Questionable Content, and note the difference between the first and last page. That's how far the artist has progressed.

Megatokyo is an acquired taste and doesn't update more than once every two or three freakin weeks due to procrastinanigans, but if you like that sort of thing you'll love it.

Wondermark is one of the most batshit crazy and hilarious webcomic I've ever read so far, perhaps more so than Dr. McNinja, although Microsoft Paint Adventures comes a close second and is superior in terms of batshit crazy.
And like Dr. McNinja there are some hilarious rollover texts.
Also, they have imo the best merch on Topatoco ever.

Ever!

I cannot believe no one has mentioned Lackadaisy Cats yet!!!

The America of the 30s, the forbidden alcohol, gangsters and femme fatales... in cat form. With a brilliant artwork, realism despite its anthropomorphic cat protagonists, spot-on language and characterization... Highly recommended!

Really good Fantasy (with robots) comic about a girl named Annie who goes to a school called Gunnerkrigg Court. I highly recommend it.

Achewood is my favourite work of art. There are probably a thousand strips or more, but it didn't get to be Time's #1 Graphic Novel for nothing.

Shame it's on hiatus indefinitely.

Sorry for reviving a pretty old thread, but I love webcomics :)

Here are some of my favourites, in a loose order:

The Perry Bible Fellowship
Nedroid
Calamities of Nature
xkcd
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
Antics
Pictures for Sad Children
Buttersafe
Pandyland

If I had to recommend one, it would be Perry Bible Fellowship. It doesn't update regularly, but it has a short enough archive to read through in a couple of hours, and it's top quality from beginning to end.

After that, my favourite is Nedroid. Never fails to make me laugh.

http://survivingtheworld.net/ -- Humor. A Photocomic education that updates daily. The best way to read this is to click "random".

http://www.rivensol.com/
-- Lovecraft-style horror set in a space station. Updates Mondays and Thursdays.

http://sunsetgrillcomic.com/ -- Set in the year 2426, this comic is centered around the patrons of the Sunset Grill, a bar in the shady side of a major city on Earth. This has the most realistic future Earth setting I've seen yet and lots of extra world-building extras. Updates Tuesdays and Fridays.

http://www.spindrift-comic.com/comic.php -- A fantasy comic this time. This one isn't as far along in the story as the other ones are, but the characters are superb and the art... it's gorgeous. *drool* Updates Thursdays.
