So that's where that line is from! I've been wondering about that. XD

Futurama seems to be a riot these days. I don't really manage to find much screen time for animated TV shows these days. In fact, I don't think Australian television does anymore, besides the anime re-runs on ABC and SBS on occasion.

Oh, and The Clone Wars on ABC4. It's a surprisingly decent show, although I'd kill for a decent live-action TV series.

The entirety of the DCAU. That is all.

That's not an animated show. It's a live action recording of an animated universe. GET IT RIGHT.

Also, as a great lover of B movies, the phrase 'I like X ironically' always sounds to me like 'I like X but I don't want to really ADMIT I like X'

I mean, I like shit, but I fully admit it's shit and it's enjoyable because it's so shit it's funny. No need for irony at all.

I only recently began to appreciate South Park, but I'm not really a fan of their modus operandi

They have some genuinely interesting and thoughtful social commentary at times but then every time they risk appearing outwardly smart or meaningful the guys just put in some gross/stupid/crass joke and hope it stirs up enough shit to get coverage by the media.

Personally I think they throw the crass stuff in deliberately so as not to appear too preachy. Also, I think the first couple of seasons were more crass and stupid, and nowhere near as funny. Although the latest season seems to be going in a direction I'm unsure of - which isn't surprising given that Trey Parker has written or co-written every epsisode, I guess he's getting a little bored

The other thing I like about it is how everything is a target, they don't discriminate.

I'm sure there are people who just watch it for basic crass humour, but now there are other shows that cater for those tastes better.

This, :monster:. I mean, they managed to get Chef's voice actor / singer dude out a few seasons back by going at scientology.

Of course, they raped Chef's character the next season, :monster:.

Oh, we're actually takin' this thread seriously. :awesome:

Simpsons seasons 1-9 only.

Word up, Octo. Season 9 was the last decent season, but the cracks were startin' to show. It also has one of my all time favourite evar episodes - "Dumbbell Indemnity". That one has non-stop hilarity and could easily rank alongside the golden age. "The Principal and the Pauper" is also hilarious, despite being regarded as something of a shark-jump of the series. It's episodes like "All Singing, All Dancing" and "Trash of the Titans" which sink to new depths.

My favorites from season 9 were: Lisa's Sax, The Cartridge Family, Last Temptation of Krust and Lisa the Simpson. Also, Realty Bites gets an honourable mention because of the last appearence of Lionel Hutz.

It's only from seeing the episodes listed by season that I realised how early the rot set in - 1997 :/

Yeah like that's the thing

it's as if they look at every script and goes "GUYS THIS LOOKS TOO OBVIOUSLY CLEVER, WE NEED TO TONE DOWN THE INSIGHTFUL A NOTCH. CAN WE USE THAT POO JOKE FROM LAST - OKAY, HOW ABOUT THAT AIDS JOKE, THE OLDER KIDS LOVE IT". :monster:

Anyway.

• Sym-Bionic Titan

• Regular Show
• Archer

Seriously. I'm still /gutted that Titan got cut off after a single season. The other two are excellent comedy. They don't reach my love of Titan, but they come close.

imma add Hellsing (Ultimate) to the mix.

On the one side, it's Japanese - awkward attempts at English, weird narrative, loads of filler in single episodes (certainly in the latter half), stiff animations at times, bipolar switches between dead serious and rather silly, etc.

On the other, it's got an intrigueing story, good characters, a shitton of excessive violence, and shit that would never even be attempted by anything from the west. Except the nazi zombies, perhaps, :monster:.

Also, shit's severely fucked up. Every character is insane in one form or another and one degree or another. But it's so awesome, :monster:.

I just wish there'd be less filler and it didn't take them a year and a half (or however long) to create a single 45 min episode, this is rather frustrating :(. Episode 8 is just out I believe, and 9 is planned for 2012.

Comedy shows: Family Guy, American Dad, and South Park. Often so wrong, its right.

Otherwise, GITS:SAC, and such. I have only seen the first series, but I've been meaning to buy the damn lot since forever, but have never felt rich enough =p.
