Apparently Cloud is Emperor, Aerith is Empress, Zack is uniform/school kid Zack and Tifa is sailor/school girl? Also apparently has something to with/is some kind of tribute to some kind of holiday in Japan, Girl/Doll's Day?

Where's Sailor Barret?

I'm going to ask these questions every time Square Enix thinks the entire game of Final Fantasy VII consisted of only Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, Zack, and Aeris.

Yeah I had a real sense of deja vu deju va with Captain Highwind's post!

Yeah I don't think you could really remove any of the characters/plot from FFVII now without things not making sense, maybe in the OG you could ignore Yuffie/Vincent existed/never know they existed but now with the Compilation that would just feel wrong.

So I think these little chibis are official Square Enix apps for another one of those mobile fones/social games of theirs, just not sure what one exactly - actually I'm not even sure personally if they are for a game even or just cute avatars you can have on your fone

The Cloud and Aerith costumes are going to be a reference to Hinamatsuri, which was on the 3rd March. The Zack and Tifa ones are probably going to be in reference to the new school year starting, which is in April in Japan.

In addition to what hito mentioned, Brigade is what Airborne Brigade is called in Japan. They did Santa Claus costumes on several summon characters for Christmas, so it looks like they're making a regular thing of these holiday costumes.

From the looks of things, that issue of Famitsu being advertised there has a serial number for this. So, it's a promotional thing for a summon costume that wouldn't be available otherwise.

I don't really understand why "airborne" was needed for non-Japanese releases. It seems kind of pointless.

The costumes are kind of cool, but it is kind of annoying how most third-party appearances of FF7 characters focus on the "major" ones. Are they afraid of being called racist for showing Barret? He's one of my favourite characters

True dat. At least the Christmas stuff had Shantotto and Squall dressed as Santa, but he's still arguably one of the more overexposed FF characters, at least compared to any Nintendo-era characters and anyone from IX. Lightning had a Santa outfit too, but she is easily the most overexposed character since Cloud.

But they did have Terra dressed as a reindeer now that I think about it.

There's new pictures/text/information/etc from the newest/latest issue from Famitsu and according to "sources" these figures are being released as two sets of two, with Emperor/Empress Cloud/Aerith forming one "set" and school Zack/Tifa forming another, might have more information/details on this soon People might be able to find it later in the relevant/shippy section of Tumblr later on though

They don't look like sets, it looks like individual codes for each. That scan says to buy another magazine to get Cloud, so you have him to go with the hina Aerith. The details about Zack under Cloud also looks like it will be him on his own with Tifa separate.
