Why did Shinra keep Zack's Sword?

I'm currently watching an LP of Crisis Core, and I've gotten to the bit where Zack and Cloud are escaping from the Shinra Manor/Mansion. It got me thinking about the thread question. For obvious reasons, they didn't get rid of it, but why not?

Whilst we're at it, I might as well as why there was a random SOLDIER uniform in that bplace as well, aside from plot convieniance.

They did not expect Zack to escape. The wielder was the threat, not the sword. Shinra's only possible use of the Buster Sword would have been to melt it and re-use the metal, but they aren't exactly lacking in metal for all their piping.

In short, no reason to move it anywhere.
"I don't care, just place it in the corner somewhere."

It's a good point, I guess it was an oversight on their part? (Shinra that is) Can you link me to the vid in question, I've only ever played the OG so I'm only familiar with that version of the escape sequence.

I'm guessing though that they just didn't think to hard about it (SE), a lot of times in videogames you get slung in jail or something and only sometimes do you find that your whole inventory has been taken from you. Most of the time you keep all your stuff, I guess it just makes it easier.

As for the Solider uniform, yeah its probably plot convienience. In the OG Zack iirc gives Cloud the soldier uniform in the truck back to Midgar. I think I'd always assumed it was a spare of Zacks and it was just stashed with the rest of his things?

I'm guessing though that they just didn't think to hard about it, a lot of times in videogames you get slung in jail or something and only sometimes do you find that your whole inventory has been taken from you. Most of the time you keep all your stuff, I guess it just makes it easier.

The mansion was used by Shinra to some extent. It's possible that the rooms could have been used for storage at some point, hence the old uniform.

Just a thought anyway. Good question.

Well in the OG when Zack gives Cloud the uniform he says 'it smells a bit, don't complain!'

God, watching that vid, they even made the Shinra mansion basement look boring

Yeah, it is pretty boring, but Crisis Core is a boring game.

I hate to think how long that uniform has been unwashed for. And then Cloud never has the chance to wash his clothes...

I always figured Cloud was a bit sweaty/stinky, not necessarily in a bad way, but that Soldier uniform didn't exactly look like breathable fabric.

Also I'm thinking of how Cloud,Tifa and Aeris ended up in the sewers after Don Corneo....iirc they don't get another chance to wash until Kalm @_@

For my own sanity I like to think they somehow made use of the showers in the Shinra gym.....together

actually Aerith proberbly got a shower when Tseng took her, and the rest propberly showered at here house before climbing the plate


But yeah I always wondered how after 4/5 years the buster sword was just laying around in the mansion for Zack to just pick back up.

I also wondered at what point Cloud modified his uniform and the reason for it. As the uniform looks in pretty good condition at the end of CC. But by the OG hes lost a shoulder pad, modified the other, modified the gloves and somehoe obtained a deepground stomach plate

Stinky Cloud is canon. He only bothered to smell good for Corneo.

Gee you'd think any of the girls fighting over him would notice.
