Will Final Fantasy VII Remake release on other platforms?

My god I wish I was that patient. But for this game? I can’t wait. I’ve already told my wife she shouldn’t expect to see me at all in March. (She said “same” lol ?)

My roommate is interested in the game and has a PS4, so if it gets unbearable I may actually ask her if I can like pay her to borrow her system and the game for a few weeks and play on it after work. :wacky:

Unless you're sitting on some heretofore unknown piece of information we aren't privy to?

No need to get snotty.

Tetsujin and I have both presented recent evidence that directly contradicts what you're proposing. We haven't seen anything other than wishful thinking to say otherwise.

I personally do not accept the evidence of the E3 press release if you are going to also disregard the contents of the same period - the E3 and Symphonic trailers - as well as the State of Play trailer which came before it, which all lost the Play It First tagline.

So, the only "evidence" is the latest post you quoted in regards to a mistake in a listing that could have quickly gotten out of hand. Looking at the picture as a whole, I'm personally not convinced.

Maybe I was being a little snarky by pointing out there's no solid facts to back up what you're saying, but there's no need for personal attacks, either.

which all lost the Play It First tagline
They may have lost the "Play it First" bit, but I think it's more likely to have been a design/marketing decision, rather than a hint at things to come. After all, they still show the PS4 logo.

So, the only "evidence" is the latest post
"Evidence" in this case being something that "actually happened". Yes, it was in regards to someone in Germany's screw-up, but that doesn't invalidate what they were saying. Whereas they have made zero indication of releasing on any other system, full stop. They have gone out of their way to indicate precisely the opposite.

There is literally an official press release telling you it's coming to PS4 first. Why is it important that it needs to be in every trailer? The tagline not being in every trailer does not mean anything when there's timed exclusives that do not use a tagline like that in trailers at all. The press release literally accompanied the E3 trailer. It's an official piece of marketing that is telling you what's what.
I'm just telling you the facts, I'm not here to entertain conspiracy theories.

Come again?

So you are making an assumption here too? You might hold your assumption that it is just a marketing decision more highly, but I don't.

Define 'gone out of their way' exactly?

It's important because it was featured within every other trailer up to that point.

I'm just telling you the facts, I'm not here to entertain conspiracy theories.

Then don't? I'm telling you the facts of what was and wasn't in each trailer. You don't have to come to the same conclusion as me.

Oh, I dunno... I can think of a few reasons...

Well, true haha. For Square there is definitely incentive since Sony obviously paid them off.

Why do you keep bringing up the trailers? How do they invalidate an official piece of marketing meant to tell you all the recent details about the game including the statement that it's coming to PS4 first on March 3rd? There shouldn't be different conclusions because the facts are literally black on white. The state of the timed exclusivity is absolutely not in any doubt.

The trailers are, in of themselves, official pieces of marketing for the game. I don't see the press-release as somehow more gospel than them. The fact that the latest trailers all lost the "Play It First" is rather suspect to me personally, especially when placed with other considerations I mentioned earlier and highlighted by Castiel.

Not to be too sarcastic here, but I mean, that's life? What you see as black on white, others don't? No need to head-hunt with pitchforks here. Just agree to disagree and not be so rude about it.

The state of the timed exclusivity is absolutely not in any doubt.

And with that, agree to disagree.

The press release isn't more gospel but it doesn't need to be since the trailers don't contradict it. :monster: Not mentioning the tagline isn't the same as it being invalidated. They just chose not to reiterate it there. However, they did chose to reiterate the timed exclusivity in the press release, which was shorty released after the E3 trailer and is the most recent piece of news on that. Somehow it's not good enough? The press release needs to be retroactively validated by the preceding trailers? If the trailers made you doubt, this should tell you "ah, so it still is".

...I mean sure, hence why we have people saying the Earth is flat. Not sure if you're making a good point here. Facts don't matter?

And what if they stopped putting the phrase "Play it first on PS4" into the recent trailers because they have no current plans to release it on other platform, invalidating the word "first"?

Since the PS4 logo and the the trademark stuff are still there and the word "first" is not and there are official statements telling us that there are no current plans for other platforms, I'm inclined to believe that we'll get it on the PS4 on March 3rd and maybe on some other system some indefinite time in the future if there's enough demand and enough revenue from the first game to warrant spending resources on a port.

Those are my 2 cents on the matter anyway.

That’s what scares me actually. But it still begs the question, why is it not listed as one of Sony’s exclusives? They have other games unreleased that are on there like The Last of Us II, and Death Stranding was on there but was removed.

The point, in case you didn't see it, is that you can't take one fact and ignore others.

FACT: Square-Enix has most recently stated, even after the latest trailers that don't feature "Play it first on PS4", that the FFVII Remake will be released exclusively on PS4.

It is the latest, most up-to-date information we have on the status of exclusivity, directly from the game's creators. The only real unknown is if/when the exclusivity deal will change after release.

Six month after release of FFVIIR Microsoft will be looking to sell Xbox Scarletts, not give people substantial reasons to hold off until all of the FFVII Remake is out. So yeah SE now realising FFVIIR is not coming to other current consoles at all makes sense to me.

From a logical point of view, FFVII Remake is not on that Sony exclusive list as that would mean "lifetime exclusive" which I highly doubt it is. Square Enix most likely don't want to think about other platforms for now and getting the first game out seems to be the priority. It also makes it easier to develop and faster to release as they don't need to worry about optimizing it for multiple systems.

Regarding Death Stranding, you answered it yourself. It is probably planned to be released on PC or something down the line, which also doesn't make it a lifetime exclusive. The Last of Us Part II is 100% a PS4 exclusive as Naughty Dog is a first party development studio as I understand and therefore, that game is on that list (Jack & Daxter, Uncharted and The Last of Us are all Playstation exclusives).

Right, I have no doubt that it will be a timed exclusive. I think I misunderstood what you said and thought you were saying that you thought it would be a permanent exclusive. My mistake. I believe that the games listed as exclusive on their site are permanent exclusives, but I only mentioned FF7 not making the list because there are actually some people believing it will be a permanent exclusive to the PS4 given what Square recently came out and said.

No worries. Misunderstandings may happen very easily.

I'm also convinced that the FFVII Remake will eventually see the light of day on other platforms, even if that will only include PC. Though as somebody else here already mentioned, having the game on multiple platforms means that more people would be able to enjoy it which increases the number of people we can share our experience with.
