Well this is certainly interesting. But yeah, considering Sony basically has a backdoor into every person's PS3 and can rewrite whatever the fuck they want in terms of features, hacking it and shit seems kinda pointless.
Unless you don't mind having no PSOnline, multiplayer online play, and the other numerous online benefits of keeping an up to date console.
I'm pretty sure there's quite a lot of people that are fine with not being able to update their PS3, if they get to play games they downloaded off the internets for free in return.
Problem is, it takes a shot load of money to back up a PS3 game. A Blu-Ray burner costs like 200 hundred dollars.
Blu-Ray discs care like 10 bucks.
I mean, you're not really saving that much money in the end. Especially if the games you're burning are gonna be kinda jipped since you can't use the full PS3 functionality with it and all.
And then there are the new released games and on, which might not even run on non-updated consoles. The shit's not as easy as it appears to be.
