I imagine the release date is a placeholder until the real one though. Thanks for the info though, not sure if I'll bother though, since they usually have more then enough software wise.

What Flow said. They always put 12/31/11 or any end-of-the-year date when they have no idea when the game is ACTUALLY coming out. The game has only been confirmed to be out in December in Japan. No word on whether the rest of the world is getting it at the same time, or at a slightly later date. Hell, it may even come out as late as summer of 2012. It'd be nice if it was another worldwide release date, but let's not get our hopes up.

Also, this has been available to put money down towards since it was announced. I would have said something but I didn't think that was news because that's what happens with every big game. Heck, even small games show up in the computer as soon as there is some confirmation that it is being made.

@Ghost - Nope, nothing else yet. I wouldn't expect anything more until E3 at the earliest.

Preordering is all well and good, but I have no intention of preordering until I actually see something of the game. More info on plot, gameplay footage, etc. I wouldn't just blindly purchase this game just because it has a "Final Fantasy" on it or just because I enjoyed the first game.

I wonder though if NA/Europe will actually see it by the end of this year, or at the beginning of next year.

Honestly I don't really understand the point of preordering anything more than maybe a few days in advance unless there's some sort of preorder bonus.

The only time I'd recommend it, is if it's a special edition because there's been quite a few that sell out a couple months in advance.

For regular copies of games, worst case scenario if you didn't preorder a few days before it came out, you'd be waiting a day or two for us to get restocked.

Preorder bonuses I'm constantly throwing out extras after a couple weeks if it's a code. Something physical like a little plushie you might want to preorder early because we only get like 5-6 of those kinds of things.
