It seems Yoichi Wada has manned up and admitted they've basically screwed all their brands and they'll need to rebuild them all.

Considering their stock is at a 10 year low, I guess there was no way of hiding this bullshit behind Western Gamers and anything else.

Has Square Enix hit rock bottom?

I hope so, because then the only place left to go, is up.

It's really surprising he doesn't just say its FFXIV. He admits its all brands. That's pretty damn honest.

Well, it's about damn time they admitted they messed up. They pushed me over the edge with most of the unnecessary shit in Birth By Sleep, so it's good they finally admitted they're doing something wrong. Let's really hope something good comes out of it.

Well I agree with the commenter on that page that said "one mistake and your glad their over?!" I think it's not good to feel so great they have hit such a low. I agree, it's good t admit mistakes, but in this economy - which affects the world over - some businesses are not making a comeback. Okay, I can't think of any company that has gone through that, but...

I don't know what they mean by they'll have to rebuild their brands, but I wish them the best. Personally, I don't mind compilations, but please take some time to keep to the original, and don't just throw out something - flesh it out, flesh out the characters, and keep general time in mind (Hojo was the elixir of youth, like him or not!) Personally, I don't mind a long story, or game time, just make sure that I should understand it!

Now maybe they can get their heads out of the clouds and go back to what makes them great. Their best era, outside of the SNES era, was the era in which they had multiple ventures, Parasite Eve, Saga, Mana, Chrono, Xenogears, Brave Fencer, so on and so forth. Even Final Fantasy was the shit, and really something to look forward to, as opposed to 'eh they're making another Final Fantasy (whatever). Ok cool'.

I'll give them a chance to release Versus and hopefully raise the bar, but Wada and the company has a lot of climbing to do.

There was a time when Square was "Tobal", "Bushido Blade", "Parasite Eve", "Chrono" and "SaGa" other than FF. However, Square has been shoving nothing but Final Fantasy on the market for more than five years and this is the result.

Man, I'd never thought I'd see the day when I'd say I'm getting tired of Final Fantasy. I remember when that name used to mean something, when it was rare and exciting.

I hope this isn't a case of "sin thine ass off", where while you admit something is wrong, you don't actually work to make it better. SE doesn't look like the company willing to work, not anymore. It used to be. And with this economy, I doubt there will be rebuilt. Just cut some titles short.

P.S. The good thing with being pessimistic is that either you are right, or pleasantly surprised. Win-win.

I hope 3rd Birthday does well or else they'll keep spamming the handhelds like no tomorrow. It's about time they figured out their faults and is now working to become a better brand. Let's hope they make a decent console title that won't take a decade or so.

Well they're putting out Chrono Trigger on mobile phones this spring, and with the release of The 3rd Birthday, I can only hope that they REALLY take a step back and look at WHY their most powerful brand is fading from its former glory, instead of rampaging on the same way through all their other brands. Some of the fanservicing for PE3 makes me a bit nervous, especially given the tone of the original game, but with this, I'll choose to remain cautiously optimistic.

Agreed, Tet, they really need to stop keeping cool stuff away from their overseas fans, especially when the added/extra content actually expands and reveals further details about the story. It leaves us wondering wth really happened when something is only vaguely explained in the original and is either fleshed out or partly revealed in a Final Mix version. It's fucking ridiculous to leave us fans hanging like that .

What's worse, if BBS didn't piss me off enough, now they got a Final Mix version on the way and I honestly could care less about that one, becase, IMO, the game's story is complete shit in the first place. What else can they possibly add to BBS when it will only make it even more annoyingly confusing/contradicting? Ugh.

I agree. Tetsuya Nomura's ( I still blame him for the spam of Final bullshits I see today. ) bullshit method of creating and generating INTERNATIONAL FINAL ATTACK RIDE MIXES are uneccessary and should've been made for both the overseas fanbase and the ones in japan in order to boost sales. The most triumphant and greatest achievement of this method was FFX's International version, but I don't understand why Nomura had to 'reinvent' his method and use the 'No export for overseas gamers' method of distribution.

I hope Wada also notes this and stops spamming Final bullshits/International bullshits and gets with the program as well. They had potential truth be told, but they've taken 'derp marketing' to a wallbanging level. But I still remain hopeful they don't make a final mix attack international form ride bs title for 3rd Birthday.

Buying it twice would be a drag, and I'm surprised Square can still pull it off in the age of DLC, but yeah, I think fans of a given series outside of Japan are still getting the shorter end of that stick.
