Final Fantasy VII: Snowboarding is a port of the original snowboarding mini game from Final Fantasy VII that was released in North America for Verizon’s VX phones in 2005, and in Japan on their carrier DoCoMo’s FOMA 703i/902i phones in 2008.

STORY

This version of the game does not have a story, but in Final Fantasy VII, this minigame takes place after the player visits Icicle Inn, where they learn of Professor Gast’s relationship and work with Ifalna.

The objective is to navigate Cloud safely through the three available courses while earning points by collecting balloons placed throughout the courses. Players control Cloud’s movement using the D pad on the phone, steering him around obstacles or performing a limited set of tricks off of ramps. Only the “beginner” course is available to new players, with the more difficult “medium” and “hard” tracks becoming available once the player has earned enough points to advance. In addition to the “Score Attack” point gathering mode, players can unlock the “Time Attack” time trial mode, which clears the courses of all obstacles and lets the player race against their own best time for each track.
