Icicle Lodge

A village on an island in an extremely cold region. It is Aerith’s
birthplace, and her parents Gast and Ifalna lived here. However, on [ μ ] -εуλ 1985/02/27 (20 days after Aerith’s birth) Hojo–desiring an Ancient for a test sample–abducted the entire family. It was also here that Gast was tragically shot and killed when he put up resistance.

Also, the area around the village is a region that was once known as
the “Knowslpol”, where 2000 years ago the land and the planet was
injured by Jenova. Because the planet is focusing on healing its
wound, there is not enough energy to go around this area, and as a
result plant life has disappeared from the land and transformed it
into a frozen climate.

‘A Promise For When We Meet’

A suggestion by Zack to Aerith, to make a promise each time they have
a date, for when they meet again on their next date.

Zack’s specific suggestion was that Aerith wear pink. Ultimately this promise was not fulfilled, but Aerith–who continued to wait for Zack’s return–starts to wear pink after making this promise (as demonstrated in this game, “FFVII, “”BC”, etc).

Red Leather Coats

The largest scale group among the Genesis fan clubs. They used to
receive funding from Genesis’ parents. Their primary activities
included the distribution of an email newsletter and merchandise
sales, and in chapter 3 after it is announced by Shinra that Genesis
died in the line of duty they also begin organizing events such as a
memorial festival. However, due to the poor sales of their “Banora
Apple Jewelery
” and the cessation of funding from Genesis’ parents, by chapter 7 they fall into serious financial troubles, and the very survival of the fan club is in under threat.

Red Orb

Refers to the red orb set in a large tree growing in The Light of
Demise in the Banora underground. It is a kind of materia that Genesis
discovered by chance, and during his re-enactment of LOVELESS it
serves as the “Gift of the Goddess.” In the game it is seen absorbing
the surrounding Lifestream and giving that to Genesis, but the details
on its effects are unknown.

AVALANCHE

An organization opposed to Shinra, and while they share the same
name there are two groups with different situations. The original
AVALANCHE was created by scholars of planetary life in Cosmo Canyon,
and after this group is destroyed, the anti-Shinra group ALAVANCHE led
by Barret which appeared in “FFVII” took on their name and ambition.

The AVALANCHE in the time period of this game is the former, and as
shown in “BC” it was a time when the second leader, a woman named
Elfe, began an armed revolt under the slogan “Down with the Shin-Ra!”

AVALANCHE Hideout

The location of the hideout of the anti-Shinra organization AVALANCHE
differs for each of the two groups mentioned in the “AVALANCHE” entry.

The hideout of the AVALANCHE led by Elfe was a tower in Wutai. Its
style of architecture is similar to the Pagoda featured in “FFVII”,
but it is a different building. Whereas the hideout of the AVALANCHE
led by Barret was the pub Seventh Heaven in Midgar. The anti-Shinra
organization’s hideout that the carpenter was about to build in Scene
07-04 would later become Seventh Heaven. Both hideouts are destroyed in operations headed by the Turks to wipe them out.

WTF? Why don’t you guys translate the “park date” scene. This is bias Cloti BS at its best. What? TOO AFRAID to admit that Cloud and Aerith went on a date. Does that ruin your love Cloti since Cloud and Tifa have been on absolutely 0?…

nah Im just kidding, it’s me Quexinos :monster:

Good job with this Hito. I appreciate the hard work ^_^ I also love that Zack and Aerith pic on the cover, it’s sooo cute ^_^

Actually I’m confused, how can Crisis Core start in 2000 but BC start in 0001?

      Crisis Core starts in [ μ ] – εуλ 2000, Before Crisis starts in [ ν ] – εуλ 0001.

To phrase it in common English, Crisis Core starts at the end of the “Mu Era”, and Before Crisis starts at the beginning of the “Nu Era”.

They never explain the reason for the new era name, but my guess would be that the Shinra Company enacted a year zero when they defeated Wutai.

That seems needlessly convoluted on the creators’ part. I wonder why they would do that, especially since people are going to be confused as to when exactly CC takes place before FF7. I mean, the hardcore researchers will know but the average gamer won’t.

Well it’s on the northern continent, but I wouldn’t really call that an island. O_o

    • Ryushikaze
      Ryushikaze 26 November, 2009, 09:03

In the same way that Greenland is an Island. It’s not big enough to be a continent unto itself just yet.

      punkiemonkie 26 November, 2009, 09:54

Makes sense, but it still seems odd. I don’t remember it ever being referred to as an island in the game, but it is a heck of a lot smaller than the big continents.

    Hahahaha!

Loads of pink arguments, rendered utterly moot by the guidebook.
    TTLY a different ribbon!

      Ryushikaze 28 November, 2009, 23:55

Oh, there was a Bruhaha that Aerith wasn’t wearing pink because of the promise, and that the ribbon she wears in FF7 was not the same ribbon she got from Zack in CC, and it was all related to the LTD, but it’s gloriously moot now.

It seriously makes my day whenever these get posted, thank you so much for your work!

rofl I love the blurb about the “portable terminals” and the radio towers that somehow still work. that is some GREAT service! I mean, being able to get messages while in a cave/basement, after your phone has been soaking in mako for 4 years? I think I want a portable terminal.

ROTFL. Well..he learned it from Zack apparently.

Hell, if all it takes is going to a park and talking to someone to count it as a date, what the hell does that make the whole Lifestream sequence between Cloud and Tifa? :mon:

Thankyou very much for all your hard work, Hito. It’s good to have you back.

But I want to point two things:

    1) IIRC Yuffie’s father is named Godo, not Goto.

    2) In the Black Materia section, the text looks like is not formatted very well.
