During the Sony E3 conference today, Square Enix once again revealed Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which has been re-branded as Final Fantasy XV. Presumably built on Square Enix’s next-gen Luminous engine, the game is “coming to PS4,” but no exclusivity was mentioned.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII was first announced in 2006, but Square Enix has been mostly silent about the title recently, aside from confirming that it wasn’t canceled. Today’s announcement confirms news from February that the title is shifting to next-gen and follows up on Square Enix’s promise at the PlayStation 4 reveal conference that a new title would be unveiled at E3.

Kingdom Hearts 3, the 10th installment in the Kingdom Hearts series and the final game in its current storyline, will launch for PlayStation 4, Square Enix announced today during Sony’s E3 press conference. Tetsuya Nomura acknowledged Kingdom Hearts 3 was in development shortly after the release of 2010 PlayStation Portable title Kingdom Heats: Birth by Sleep.

The first Kingdom Hearts launched in 2002 for PlayStation 2. The games focus on a young boy named Sora, Mickey Mouse and their friends as they travel through worlds that mashup elements and characters from Final Fantasy games and classic Disney films.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII gameplay demo released (via Digital Spy)

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been given a new trailer by Square Enix. The E3 2013 gameplay video sees Lightning pursue Snow within the Yusnaan Palace. The trailer blends cinematic cutscene material with gameplay footage, focusing, in particular, on the game’s combat system and enemies.

Meanwhile, promotional material from the E3 gaming expo suggested that Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII would be released on the PC, as well as Xbox 360 and PS3. Square Enix has since denied the reports, claiming that the artist responsible for the poster made a mistake.
