OK so a Kickstarter for this was announced 5 hours ago. The goal is 2 million. It already has 1.5 million. Safe to say it's coming.

Those of you unfamiliar with Shenmue need to acquaint yourselves immediately. 1 and 2 were released on the Dreamcast and they're incredible.

(I am in bed. I can't sleep.)

My favourite part of this is that Kickstarter's website crashed almost immediately after this was announced, because it couldn't handle all the traffic.

Anyway yes I need to play these games. I may actually have them somewhere; I just have no idea where.

I wanna find out why everyone loves the series but there's no way in hell I'm gonna get a Dreamcast or an OG Xbox. I'm hoping for a PS port.

Dreamcasts are like $10. I'm not even exaggerating. Or at least they were when I picked one up.

I will never understand this "old systems are hard to get" rubbish. You own a PC! Use a goddamn emulator!

In all the excitement this news got drowned out and forgotten, but this brings pleasant memories for me. I used to watch my brother play Shenmue 1 on his Dreamcast. Definitely need to play it for myself.

I don't know if it really got "drowned out" considering they've raised over $1.7 million in a matter of hours (note: it's the fastest game ever to hit $1 million) :monster: It did get drowned out on Final Fantasy forums, though, I'll concede that :monster:

I have a question, I played it on Dreamcast for the first then couldn't find 2. Any ports they made to later games an shit?

30 days left to go and to the surprise of no one it's already 150% funded.

All I remember about Shenmue was that it was a fighting game/beat em up Shinjuku thingie about a boy and his minigames (and girlfriend).

Unfortunately no, they were only ever released on Dreamcast.

I thought at least the first one also came out on Xbox.
