What are we doing at this point tho? I'm done with the prototypes of style 1 and it's a matter of deciding which buttons we're keeping and making polished versions of those far as that's concerned. Should we do a community vote on which button style we want to keep maybe?

I'm down with facilitating a vote to decide! Just to reiterate what Fancy had already said earlier, I wouldn't make every badge a different colour. The purpose of the colours would be to represent different staff tiers. For example, purple for Admins, orange for Mods, yellow for other Staff and Contributors, red for Donators, etc.

I really like the lifestream green for the button, it should merge well with the new theme. Some thoughts:

hexagon shape is hella sexy - reminds me of the original cell/web-like shape that was prominent in AC covers/art. For some reason in some instances, the hexagon with icon over the edge makes the hexagon disappear.

SOLDIER symbol should stay within the shape, not go to the edge/over the edge, it seems to lose the shape as well. Same goes for Shinra I think.

Circle is also good and works well with the icons that bleed over the edge. Smods, Admins, Staff, Donators, Regular Members? It seems like a bit much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's something sexy about the clean white icons... but that bitching Jenova head can't be lost.

I'm not too sure on the different colours for different levels... how many would there be?

Final thought re: size/icon numbers: could a plugin be installed so that, should a user have more than 3 icons, they can choose which to put on their post bit? Like, for some who are Admins/Smods, also Great Old Ones, Donators, Site Staff and more... Lex for example could have 4 of these icons. I don't think there are as many people like him but there he is

So what if in the user profile it shows all icons.. but when updating a user profile, you could choose which 3 icons you want represented on your post bit area. Or maybe even two. These are such awesome ideas for graphics, it would be a total shame to see them hindered because of size

The size limitation is a visual choice as well as being about fitting them on the actual postbit. The more big in-your-face things we have on there the more cluttered it's going to become, and we're trying to avoid the pitfalls staff fell into when setting up here and keep it looking neat.

This was one of the reasons I suggested materia orbs in the beginning. I knew detailed icons at a small size would be difficult to make out. That said I think all the ones you folks have designed are fucking beautiful.

What we should do is cover what roles will be getting a badge and then start assigning them to roles so we know what to do over there. If someone wants to put this to community vote it's up to them, tbh I think it might be easier to do a google survey or something rather than using the poll system on here because there are a lot of icons to choose from and a bunch of roles to assign them to.
