If it's the same as the Arcade version I played in Japan, this is true. Characters with Trance and EX modes can equip them as one of their 4(?) Abilities they can use in combat that have a cooldown. You can change and customise these up a fair bit but each character has one ability only they can choose.

I played Firion almost exclusively but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what his did.

according to this his ex skill (blood weapon) increases his movement speed for a while and makes all his attacks absorb hp

i like the look of the summon battles, that seems interesting. i'm still not super happy about the sound of 'unlocking' the story but maybe that 'story trial' stuff will be more of a traditional story mode than unlocking little scenes if you get an item.

Does anyone know what the "Battle of Gods" Arcade event was about? Squeenix said they're thinking of doing "something else instead" for the Console version.

Also, Season Pass suggests 6 characters beyond current roster.

If I get Gilgamesh, I'll be happy, but who else you think?

The season pass 6 are being teased now. They are mostly new to the series, with 2 being villains. One villain is returning.

We know nothing else, other than hero or villain.

I’m not correct. I was going by what’s in the live chat. Here’s what reddit says:
1) Male. Newcomer. (Later game)

2) Male. Newcomer. (Earlier game)

3) Female. Newcomer. (Later game)

4) Male. Newcomer. (Later game)

5) Female. Veteran. (Later game)

6) Male. Newcomer. (Later game)

Early game FF1-7 later 8-15. So the villain i thought was returning must actually be Yuna or Prishe. I thought blue was hero and red was villain when it was male and female.

My guesses on the first 6 Season Pass Dissidia NT characters (based on the info released):
-New Male, FF8-15: Ardyn
-New Male, FF1-7: Zack (and if not him either Locke, Edgar, Setzer, or Vincent)
-New Female, FF8-15: Rinoa/Garnet/Ashe/Fran/Serah/Fang
-New Male, FF8-15: Caius
-Returning Female, FF8-15: Yuna
-New Male, FF8-15: Wild Card (could be Seifer, Vivi, Auron, a FF11 character/villain, Balthier or Vayne, Sahz or Snow, a FFXIV character/villain, or even another chocobro)

EDIT: Though if the new/old spilt is instead referring to the 2D/3D split instead of mathematical splits/halves, I could see Aerith being the new female character.

Nomura pushed for Minwu, so I'm guessing he's new male I-VII, hoping for Balthier, Vivi and Fang for the others. Would be fine with either Yuna or Prishe back.

I'm still hoping for Reno, Zack and Vincent for the new male characters for the game, but sadly Reno's not happening.

I'd like either Serah or Ashe as the new females, though.

According to that thread on reddit, it's implied that any game that has 3 reps already will not have a new rep in the season pass. Which means that only FFI-3,5,6,9,11-15 will be represented outside of the veteran, making them close to even.

My guess is:
Caius/Ardyn/Seifer
Minwu/Locke
Fang/Vanille
Prompto/Gladio/Ignis
Yuna/Prishe
Balthier/Auron

Yuna/Prishe are the only ones we know for definite. I can't think of any other "bad guys" from VIII-XV. Nomura really wants Minwu, Locke and Auron were in that drama, and they said they wanted more XIII characters as well.

VIII: Seifer.

IX: Beatrix, or maybe have Captain Steiner(AKA: Rusty) against Zidane.

XI: No idea.

XII: The guy who appeared in 012 Dissidia.
