Default The Avengers, AoU, & Infinity War films

At the Visionaries panel on Thursday afternoon at Comic-Con International: San Diego, Joss Whedon finally made it official. He is directing Marvel's big-screen team movie, Avengers.
Whedon, asked about his involvement with the film, said, "the Avengers directing job is not an official thing from Marvel but ...I'm making it official RIGHT NOW!"
He then went on to say that his script is still in early stages, he's "still writing an outline. I think it's completely counterintuitive to have all those people in the same room but that's the definition of family."
That god he's writing it too.

If only he had done X-men too.

His Astonishing X-Men book was fucking awesome.

I knew he was directing, but had no idea it wasn't confirmed yet.

Also, REALLY excited to hear he's writing too. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE, AND IT'S GONNA HURT THE HARDEST WAY POSSIBLE.

And what are you basing this on? Buffy? Angel? Serenity? Astonishing X-Men?

This is really great news... But let's hope there isn't too much executive meddling, or it'll be "Joss Whedon directed the Avengers in the same way he wrote Alien Resurrection".

Fuck executive meddling imo. He should be free to direct it how he pleases.

Yahoo! News tells me that Mark Ruffalo is the new Bruce. Not a bad choice, loved his acting in some of his films.

Dr. Horrible, Dollhouse, almost anything else Whedon has ever produced

I wasn't too keen on him at first, but I saw the light after watching "The Brothers Bloom"

I love how Downey is the only one who looks remotely like he is enjoying himself...

Not strictly related to Joss Whedon or the topic at hand, but potentially madly relevant to the Avengers movie.

Yeah. Potentially spoilers, but maybe not. Would be unbelievably epic though.

There's no way in hell Thanos is in the movie.

It's too much to start with, and a while back some folks from the production team said they were aiming for a skrull invasion.
