I still think it takes more centerstage than pretty much any other FF. I've said in the past the with romances like Zidane and Garnet, Yuna and Tidus, hell, even Squall and Rinoa, you can divorce their character from their romantic affections, they start when the game starts and are not intrinsically tied to the character, not so with Cloud. You can't have FFVII without Cloti because you can't have Cloud without Cloti.
Agreed. Cloud as we know him cannot exist in a world without Tifa. Cloud as he is in Remake/Rebirth and indeed the parts of the OG that match that timeframe cannot function without Tifa. And Cloud cannot heal and become functional as himself without Tifa. She is his everything girl.
