Buffyverse Discussion (Spoilers)

I mean, who's really surprised? She supported Charisma Carpenter IIRC and while for years I pretty much didn't pay any attention to him (mostly because I don't read anything to stars, directors, etc. aside when friends talk about it, which mean nearly never ever), it was very obvious to me that this guy seemed to have a very toxic way of dealing with women.

The fact that she finally comes out about it, only more than a decade after, speaks about the power that man has/still had over Hollywood during that time though.

Thanks for the article link. I'm not surprised it was the same with Sarah as others. I'm gonna read the article when I'm on my laptop and cookie handling is easier there, that site is a nightmare in third party vendors. /developer

I was kind of expecting her to break her silence at some point, and glad she has chosen to do so.

She's been actively distancing herself from Joss related Buffy content since the show ended. The only time she reprised the character was for Call of Duty DLC. I find it telling that she came back for CoD of all things, but not the Joss involved cartoon.

is Sarah Michelle Gellar back or is she still staying avoiding the series like the plague?

It's still so weird to think that the last time she reprised the role was for fucking Call of Duty

As per Lulcielid's post in the catch all RIP thread:

Mitchelle Trachtenberg at 39.

This is really shocking. I felt for sure the first member of the cast to go would be Nicholas Brendon given everything that's going on with him.

It's also crazy how much this has changed given that it was definitely true a year ago and now she's essentially pioneering the "revival".

I wonder if Michelle was spoken to at all about returning, it feels so odd that she's gone :(

Not that i expected to react to the recent news, but it's actually hitting me weirdly hard.

I dunno if I can revisit Buffy again without feeling extremely sad. RIP Dawnie...

I know this probably sounds kinda dramatic but I think this really cements the end of my relationship with Buffy.

Part of the hope with these initial talks of the reboot is an underlying commitment to make ammends for the horrible toxicity of Whedon and the original run. I guess my thinking right now is that this singles out Michelle, who was one of the (if not THE) youngest cast members of Mutant Enemy at the time. There are anecdotes of Joss not being allowed to be alone with her. While her relationship with Marsters as an adult was seemingly fine, I can't really formulate these thoughts without mentioning that one song he wrote for her that was frankly pedophilic af.

That is to say, she was one of the people done the most dirty by the original production. More gravely so given that she was a fucking child. Now that she's gone, there's not much of a shot that any reboot can promise to make up for all the past crap, in my opinion.

idk i think it's all just making me incredibly sad. I don't think I could really handle a reboot/sequel with Sarah as Buffy without Michelle as Dawn there. AFAIK the two had an IRL surrogate sister type bond, and the relationship between the characters supercedes anything else going on in Buffy's story. Have a reboot/sequel with that gone feels so wrong and prohibitively upsetting for me. This is the best way I can explain as to why.

That isn't even touching how Dawn was treated in the comics, good lord.
