So... a little update on this. I pre-ordered this thing back when it was first announced. This morning, I received a refund of my $49.99 from Merchoid, and the page for the item no longer exists on their website. So I'm thinking it's been canned.

That Barret figure... I need it. Also, just throwing this out there... it's high time ALL the Turks got their own figures. Reno's got one from the original round of AC figures, and Rude at least got a shared mini figure alongside Reno with those Suntory potion drinks... Poor Tseng and Elena...

I wouldn't dismiss it entirely. I have a little mini-Sega Genesis with pre-loaded games that can play the original cartridges. I forget who actually made it, but the packaging was very similar to what's show on the website.

I'd have to go with thief. When I have the option, I almost always play games as a thief/assassin. My characters always seem to end up as sociopathic kleptomaniacs. It's just plain fun. :) I could see myself as a black mage, as well. I have a fondness for elemental magic.

I can understand it if it's a game that I want but don't really care that much about the pre-order bonus... but something like this, I'm waiting until the super deluxe mega fanboy edition ('cause you know there's gonna be one) gets announced.

But did anyone actually know about the release mechanism? Tifa et al seemed fairly shocked when Corneo told them what Shinra was up to at the sector seven pillar.

AND, why the hell else would there be a catastrophic release system for the sector plates unless you thought you might eventually have a reason to drop the thing on a bunch of people?

My understanding was always that the slums aren't one big unit. They used to be a handful of small individual villages, and Midgar was just sort of plopped on top of them to suck up the mako they were sitting on (which... I guess was cheaper than demolishing them and relocating their populace...

Ditto. Worst case scenario, we decide it sucks and switch to the paid option.
