UDK is definitely the best all-round engine for 3D games nowadays. Squeenix probably already has some information on what it's like with Eidos using it for DX, Tomb Raider and Thief etc.

I seem to be a fan of VII and Advent Children, however laughably bad they are at times. There's a kind of naive romanticism about them that isn't in the other stuff I'm interested in. My username is derived from a reknowned Quake 3 CPM player.
