I kinda think alike; to me Aerith is dead and will only show up to Cloud at the very end, like in the OG. Rebirth's ending solidifies this to me, as it shows that Cloud cannot see the real Aerith in the Lifestream, even if the FMV makes you believe otherwise. It's really well done but yeah...

Nah, the devs don't want fans to think about any of the heros in a negative way, and that includes both Tifa and Aerith. You're supposed to see them in a sympathetic way but I think it's trickier with Aerith than with Tifa because what she does can really rub off people the wrong way. I hope...

Tifa's symbolised by white feathers (which people chose to ignore...) and associated a lot with angelic themes (7th Heaven, her weapon God's Hand, her limit Final Heaven but also her mother's name Thea who is a goddess in the Greek mythology). It's not really surprising she got such an outfit tbh.
