Hay, this was probably brought up before, but did anybody else notice that Zack had the rusty Buster Sword during the whole Zack-NDE bit? I thought it was a nice touch.

I'd tend to lean towards tattoos as well, although real tattoos aren't indented like that. But on the other hand, real scars aren't usually that pretty. :B And wtfpores? There's so much shiny in this movie.

I wasn't necessarily thinking Elements or Gene sequences as much as proteins. Again using Hsp70, that looks like the other letter/number combinations in the artwork. And there are combinations that obviousy aren't elemental in nature. And for reference, some of the other combinations...
