Changes in the FFVII PSN Download

I downloaded this last night and so far, I'm pretty damned happy with it! Not only have I been able to access my save files from my recent playing with my discs on the PS3, but I have been able to copy those files to my PSP. Good news!

In those save files, I have one where I managed to totally cock things up and put my save crystal in the wrong place - in my defense, I'm stupid - and thus wasn't able to get out of the Northern Crater and do all the little bits and bobs I wanted to do before I went on to finish the game.

With the new, downloaded version, this is no longer a problem! The save crystal glitch has been fixed! :monster:

So, fellow downloaders, what else has changed?

I haven't noticed anything so far. And I hope I don't notice anything changed (for the most part). Btw, I love how it still asks you to change discs and it shows the beautiful concept art.

Hah-hah, yes - it is a nice touch! :D

Nope, W-Item glitch has not been solved! That was one of the first things I checked. :awesome:

I would've been upset (a little) if they changed the W-item exploit. I mean what else was it good for? Did anyone really use it to use 2 items at once?

Not the most useful thing, but I still feel it was worth it in a regular game without maxing up stuff. It meant you could use a phoenix down and elixir at the same moment, for example...

And yay they haven't solve it!!

Now I just have to check if my spanish save up will be alright with a (most-likely) english version of the download...

Good point regarding Phoenix Down + Elixir. I never actually used it for its intended purpose though.

99 Megalixirs and Remedies ftw.

Save files of different language versions are never compatible. >.O

Yup, Phoenix Down and Elixirs here, too.

Very handy whilst levelling up in the Northern Crater and those greedy Magic Pots!

Edit: As far as I understood it, the European releases on the PSN would be country-specific. I.E. In Spain, you'd download a Spanish version; in Germany, you'd get a German one etc.

I've only heard of English (duh!), German and French. So I have still to confirm on the Spanish one...

And yeah, Magic Pots ftw.

PS: Tetsujin, I did guess so, but needed to confirm...

PPS: I wanted to confirm because I once used the same saved state on ZSNES for different language FFVI. (I know it's different but :awesome:)

I think you're right, actually. I knew about French and German, so I just kinda assumed that there would be a Spanish one too...

Sorry. :(

seeing it on PSN got me into playing my copy of FFVII for the first time in about 5 years. have they not even changed the engrish "this guy are sick"? seems a bit half baked to me.

From what I've played they've changed nothing. I doubt they changed the "This guy are sick" line or any of the dialogue. It seems like it would've taken too much time for them to go over the whole script again. I don't blame them.

What stat/equipment glitches are you referring to? I don't think they changed anything at all, it looks like they just ran the original game iso into an emulator.

I don't even have the PSN Download yet, but I'm just throwing in my two meagre cents: I'd think that the errors like "this guy are sick!" would be fixed by now, as they were fixed in the PC version of the game. Take that as you will - I, personally, don't have the original PS1 version and would love to watch Aeris/th spew incorrect grammar. To each their own. :monster:

Yeah I kinda like that everything is pretty much unchanged (that I've noticed so far). It makes me feel all nostalgic. I never even noticed the "This guy are sick" line until people pointed it out online a few years back. I personally don't think the translation is that bad, especially since this one line is the best evidence of the poor translation.

Yeah, there are parts of the game where a better translation would've helped or if they simply explained things a little clearer, like explaining the Reunion. But some people make it sound like it's a "All your base are belong to us" situation.

Anyone here knows spanish? Because if you do, I can tell you why the Spanish translation was even worse than the english one...

Well I just beat the game on the PSN version...and I got used to the idea of there being no changes, and then I was surprised at the very end.

However, I've onl played my physical Greatest Hits copy, so I dunno if this was different in the black label or international or anything, so I'm curious.

In the fight against Bizarro Sephiroth, I was always able to make 3 teams that you could switch between during the battle. After you formulated all three teams, the "leader" of each team would say something determined or inspirational and the fight would begin.
But on this game I just beat, I was only able to make one team, all the others got blown off-screen, and my three party members had their pre-battle quote.

Any idea what that's all about?

Not sure. I only saw this before during the official "Reminiscence of FFVII" video, where that exact difference was demonstrated in the japanese version that was played. I want to assume it was from the international version.

I've had it randomized in my FFVII game (original, not PSN). Usually I had it 2 groups of parties. A few times I had 3, and once I had one group. I still think it may be randomized.
