You beat me, I've heard of three (The Revenant, Mad Max, Inside Out) and seen one (Inside Out).

I heard of The Revenant, Mad Max, The Big Short, Ex Machina, and The Martian. Saw Mad Max and Ex Machina.

I don't see a whole lot of movies in general, but the kind that I like almost never appear at the awards. I'm amazed Mad Max is up there, that movie is entirely too much fun to be up for Best Picture. A "Best Picture" award is usually a guarantee that I'll be bored to tears with the film :monster:
(There are a few exceptions.)

I heard it was interesting right up until the bear attack, and then it is pretty boring from there.

As ranted on your bf earlier, I really don't get at all how Ex Machina got the couple nods it did, it was an awwffuuullll movie. Mr Channy and I were excited for this sci fi movie and were sat wondering when anything was going to happen.

Just imo/rant

Yeah, barely watched the Oscars tonight. Turned on the tv and right on cue they were announcing the best actor category.

Oh good. I was upset that the Academy Awards might have ruined one of the few long running memes to actually amuse in the silly interest of being fair or whatever, but it's nice to see that it simply evolved.

I feel like Leo getting one cheapens that award for everyone else. Not like I hate the guy or anything, he is alright in the right movie. Just doesn't seem like the quality of actor that should get an Academy Award.

If we're being serious about this, it was cheapened years ago XD. DiCaprio is certainly more worthy of it than some others IMO.

I can't think of any less deserving in recent memory. At least for "Best Actor". If we are opening it up to other categories, then yes there have been worse.

Edit: Looked up list for "Best Actor", had to go all the way back to 1976 to find another case that seemed this far off: Peter Finch in "Network". Sure there are others where I think someone else should have won, but not another where someone really didn't earn it.
