A little help

For the past year I've been off and on trying to find a song I found in a FFVII:ACC ad. I figured that the Internet would be able to help in this regard and off and on I would search Google for the few lyrics I can decipher, but I have kept turning up empty handed. So I figured I'd turn to one of the biggest communities of FFVII fans and crowdsource this thing.

The video I heard the song in is on YouTube, it won't let me post a link here until I have five posts, no problem: Just type njYjukRrfYE into the YouTube search bar.

Or, let's see if this works:

What's odd is the video has less than 900 views. I like how the song in the background sounds and I would really like to hear it without the guy talking in the foreground.

The only lyrics I can clearly discern are "whoever told you I wouldn't be there was lying" which is really an odd lyric...

I know this isn't the Way/Himuro song that was the ending theme of the Japanese version of this film.

Any ideas?

I think there were a few copies of that vid around YouTube. All of them are fake, though, no matter what the dude singing the song tries to tell everyone. It's not an official SE trailer for ACC.

Uh...I've forgotten the name. I think there's actually a thread about it on the forum from way back. The first name of the singer is Ben, that much I remember.

I had some drama with Ben Sommerfeld over YouTube for calling the video fake (which we all know that it is).

Eh, I can't say that I do. The lame old-timey filter and bad narration ruins it.

How can you make a fake trailer for a real movie?

People make fan trailers all the time for games and movies. Just like a real trailer, they take video/voice clips and put them to music. Typically fan trailers use typed words though instead of a voice over, which is probably why a lot of people bought this as real, but you can tell instantly that this isn't SE's style.

Oh no, I know that, it's just weird, I mean, fake trailers for fake movies, I get, but why go through the trouble of making a fake one for a real movie?

Though, on the trailer in question, I knew something sounded weird when the narrator said "Cloud and his friends" that just sounds silly.

Yeah. No one knows why this thing even exists. Some think it was a publicity stunt by the band, but then ACC doesn't seem mainstream enough for that (or is it?). So who knows?

Some think the band was taken advantage of and that they legitimately think this was real. But I have no idea if that's the case, either.

But either way, it's very easy to make fake trailers these days. This one especially just screams amateur.

But this topic is old hat now anyway.
