A question about the Seventh Heaven

There was something I was wondering about the newer Seventh Heaven, the one Tifa built after Meteorfall. Well, a couple things, actually. What sort of bar is it supposed to be? Like a bar and grill type place, or just a drinks bar? I noticed that in both AC and DC, no customers are shown in the Seventh Heaven, but if I remember right from Case of Tifa and Case of Denzel, the place was supposed to have been doing fairly well.

Granted, AC and DC happened afterward, but I don't think business would have dropped too much if at all once the threats in AC and DC were dealt with. Or is it just that the bar is only open part of the day? I'm in the middle of working on a post-DC fanfic that centers mainly on Cloud and his family and thus much of the action takes place in Edge and in and around the bar. So I was just wondering a few things about the place so that things in the story will fit in neatly with what's already been laid out. Thanks!

Case of Tifa mentions that business got a little sparse after Denzel came. It also might just be the wrong time of the day. I guess it could be a diner as well, since Tifa does mention getting fruits and vegetables, though that could be strictly for the family. *shrugs*

Cloud’s job was to acquire the provisions and wine – but he didn’t know the names of most fruits and vegetables. Tifa was dumbfounded at first, but came to accept that as a natural consequence of the life Cloud had led. His new life was going to start with vegetable names.

Everything else pretty much isn't explained.

Bar and grill, based on the design and the fact that there was a , though it's probably mostly short order.

If you're talking about why the bar seems so empty in AC, real life bars can be pretty dry in the middle of the day.

And as Splintered said, according to Case of Tifa as word spread of Seventh Heaven harboring a Geostigma-infected boy, a lot of people stopped coming.

But it's definitely a bar and grill. In VII a few people made a big deal about Tifa's cooking, particularly Wedge.

Yes, if Denzel's Geostigma was widely known, that would keep the customers away. You could also make a case for saying that in both scenes, 7th Heaven is simply closed. In both scenes, it's day. In ACC, Tifa could be cleaning up and getting ready for opening (which is what I always assumed). In DOC, which I've only seen once, the only people in there are her friends; again, she might be closed. In terms of the story telling, it would have been inconvenient to have these scenes in a crowded bar, with Tifa run off her feet by customers, unable to talk to her friends or to hear the radio. Maybe she opens later and it gets busy in the evening.

Cool, thanks guys. :) Though I did wonder if, post-AC, business would have gone back up since geostigma would no longer have been an issue.

I bet it'd get a lot more visitors if she'd lose some clothes, :awesome:.

In all seriousness now, it really doesn't seem like something that's mainly used for drinking. It's far too clean in AC, while at the same time too dirty - big pipes and shit at the ceiling. In AC it's a damn orphanage, no self-respecting bawdy alcoholic would go to a bar to get drunk in front of kids. Unless they get locked up at night and such :monster:. And in FFVII, it's used for, gasp, scheming and planning dissent and shit. Not much drinking going down thar.

It's also hard to hit on the bartender when her boyfriend carries around a sword that's bigger than most people.

And plenty of other people are about a phonecall away. Wouldn't wanna deal with a defensive Barret, for example.

I'm fairly certain that were 7th Heaven to be classified, 'Pub' would be the most appropriate descriptor.

Drinking goes on, but so does the fooding.
It's not a hard drinking place, but a family pub. Perhaps the bratlings help out, as does Cloud when he's home.

I always saw Seventh Heaven as like an Applebees; family restaurant with alcohol. :monster:

And most likely it is only open for dinner. I once read a fanfic that based the way it was run off of a certain type of family-run restaurants that are common in Japan. I can't remember what the term was.
