Do I even have to run through how dumb that would be? Why would Sqex take some obscure side character, slap him into his own game with a tacked on plot, possibly in an entirely different genre, and have the real main characters of FFVII just sort of milling around in the background as the world's about to die? Why would Sqex think anyone would want to play that?

I don't think that's what Ameredia, ShikamaruNara or myself were suggesting, Loxetta. In fact, the key ideas in your post -- "tacked-on plot," "entirely different genre," "main characters of FFVII milling around in the background" -- would run entirely counter to what Shika and I have been talking about.

Obviously there's going to be another FFVII game. Obviously it's going to feature Genesis in some significant capacity. This will probably be the conclusion to the Compilation. Do we all agree on that? I know most of us do.

So, the suggestion being made then is that Denzel will feature prominently in this final title -- alongside the main characters of FFVII. Thus, why I said "I'm sure Cloud would still be prominent -- and a playable character," and made reference to Spark, Parn and Record of Lodoss.

Shika was also talking about "a real FF-style RPG." No one's talking about a side-game here.

By the way, the concept I'm describing is actually pretty much what's already happened once with Final Fantasy IV: The After Years -- Ceodore is featured prominently, but so is Cecil. So it's not that outlandish or without precedent.

I dont like Denzel. Dunno why he just dosnt stand out enough for me. Theres nothing about him I feel could pull of the lead role in an RPG based game.

Kunsel could be intresting, as his character is not explored at all really. Although he seems pretty close to Zack early in the game.


As for a new game featuring Cloud, would be pretty hard as stated above to have RPG elements. To be Canon he'd just be an unstoppable force up until the end of the game..

To hell with Denzel. We don't need anymore of him at all, he's not that goddamn important and he shouldn't be.

We have enough main characters without trying to make a street rat anything more than what he is.

SE's also not going to timeskip more than a fucking decade so he'll be of proper age to be a combatant, it's unnecessary, and silly. THEY DON'T WANT DENZEL TO BE A FIGHTER, so why the hell would the have him fight alongside Avalanche?

The whole plot of Case of Denzel dispels this nonsense.
