EVERYONE HERE SHOULD WATCH "5 CENTIMETERS PER SECOND" it is so depressing and sweet and sad. I cried my eyes out, if you like sad love stories... you should really watch it! It's pretty inspirational too, and the animation is very pretty. *O* I love the scenary in it. It's a pretty short movie, so it's great to watch if you want to waste an hour. Saying this randomly because I saw it for the first time today. xD

Summers Wars is good watching.
The premise for its conflict is rather retarded (Let's merge our utilities networking software and our social networking software! Is awesome idea!), but the action and story that comes from that is pretty well done.
The themes are believing in what you excel in and people people coming together to combine their skills and resources to triumph.

Also, I say that because obviously an anime with a real focus on action(main focus) is going to have better action scenes than one that isn't, like Eva, which has always been more about the characters and psychological drama.

Though Rebuild 2.0 has some fantastic action scenes, being a movie and all.

Dragonball (not Z) had some of my favorite fights in anime. It's nice to have an epic battle that doesn't last ten episodes.

Though Piccolo vs. Android 17 was pretty cool.

Also....yeah maybe it's lame and not even really a fight but Yugi vs. Kaiba in Battle City was the true climax of the tournament. I like Marik/Malik and all but damn. Yugi/Kaiba was the best duel in the entire series, let alone just BC.

I AGREE I actually half-expected half-hoped this would be the canon

I always preferred the original Dragon Ball series to DBZ (not to mention the clusterfuck that was GT). Goku was more likeable/cute as a kid and the characters didn't all look like juiced up musclefreaks.

Utena: I watched the first two episodes and I don't know what to think yet. I'm not sure whether the over the topness/ridiculousness is tongue-in-cheek or not. The plot is pretty adorable though, not gonna lie.
