Just to steer this thread back on topic. If you say you need a month to do a model, you'll need more practice,
. Depends on how much time you spend on it per week, of course. Most of it is knowing your software and getting a feel for it, etc. But I'm sure you've realized that already.
Modeling is (I guess) like sculpting - you start out with something crude, and chisel away details until you're happy. Once you're happy, do some smoothing or whatever to reduce the polycount for your game, skin it, and justice.
