The Taiwanese version of Hana Yori Dango rules ALLLL.

Korean sucks (with it's very played out triangle which left a lot of people sore and yuki being SO OUT OF CHARACTER), and Japanese version makes Yuki like a rabid fangirl, which she isn't. So no thanks.

Basically, I don't like any version to where my favorite character acts OOC. The Taiwanese rules all because it makes Makino wear poor clothing and not the latest clothing for no apparent reason, it's more close to the manga, it's campy and fun, and it makes me actually root for all the characters and not hate all of them.

So yeah, go Taiwanese!

Although, the most popular version would be the Korean - the reason why? Because it's corny and cheesy, and basically fluff for all. The characters aren't OCC, as they did adapt it from the anime series.

I didn't say all the characters were OOC, I meant Yuki. She is not like Makino at all. She is a shy girl who has a lot of postive energy and doesn't speak out (like hitting the guy on the head, arguing, and such) like Makino. In this version, they made her out to be just like Makino, and that just doesn't sit right with me. Everybody else is ok though.

^Tiger & Dragon was pretty good. For a show centered on rakugo, it was surprisingly entertaining. Ito Misaki as "Megumi" was her usual bimbo self, but I'll give her points for having the guts to sleep with
Nagase Tomoya's character
, and, well, maybe just about everyone else...and then getting everyone to do her bidding. (obviously it's the long legs.) Tiger & Dragon wasn't laugh-out-loud funny, and had a few hit-or-miss scenes, but by the end of the show, I was choking up and crying, " Taiga, Taiga, Gilette Taiga," (Tiger, Tiger, Gilette Tiger) along w/ Tora, so I guess that means I had been brainwashed along the way...

I feel the same way. It wasn't your typical japansese drama with its storyteller format but I was very much entertained by the lovable characters that seem to grow on you as the series progresses. Megumi was a pretty flat, boring character despite being the love interest for both protagonists but for some reason I didn't mind. I watched My Boss, My Hero right before Tiger & Dragon and Nagase plays a very similar character, still very funny, but I wish I could find a series that showcases his versatility as an actor. Donta was my favorite character, practically every scene with him cracked me up.

I haven't seen Meteor Garden, but honestly, I preferred J.HYD to K.HYD. The story telling of the latter is really all over the place though I admit that K.HYD had the cuter Junpei :3

Did you even read the first post?

And are people mentioning Asian movies here or is it just me? D: OH, I think there should be an Asian horror thread, at that..

Isn't she always like that? I mean, she was the same long-legged drone in Densha Otoko, as she was in Sapuri, as she was in Gokusen, as in...well, I got tired of seeing her and avoided most other shows with her name attached after that.

Have you tried Utahime? I believe he was a bit more versatile in this role. A bit more pathetic and helpless than his cool, yakuza-like roles though.

The Korean version of BOYS OVA FLOWAZ seems shit. As soon as the main actress opened her mouth I was like "Fuck this shit". Horrible acting, idc about about the anime. Isn't manga more important? While in comparison the Japanese version actually has competent actors. It was actually able to hold my attention long enough for me to get to episode 3! Wow!

Asian drama? Yasujiro Ozu, imo. Also fellow Japanese masters Kenji Mizoguchi and Mikio Naruse.

Hana Yori Dango is my first and most favorite dorama. Totally love both seasons, and rewatch them everytime I feel cranky. ;)

I've also seen Sapuri and Last Friends, both were pretty good too. I really liked Eita after watching them, he's such a good actor!

Two dramas I watched recently expecting nothing, didnt know anything about them :

- Oh My Girl : nice the first two episodes, but nothing original in the story of a man-who-still-lives-like-a-teen-forced-to-live-with-and-raise-a-child.

I got bored kinda fast, but I watched til the end, cause I really liked the actress who plays Koutarous colleague

- Seigi no Mikata : good surprise, really funny I recommend it
