Asking permission for translation

Hello Lifrestream community!

First of all I'll briefly introduce myself. My nickname is Akira1444, and I'm new to these forums, but not to the extensive knowledge about the Final Fantasy series that this community has gathered and crafted through the years.

Since my first languague is spanish, and because I would really like to share a lot of the FF lore that's compiled in this site with non-english speaking friends and fans, I'm asking permission to translate some of the articles featured in this web (specially the Dissidia plot analysis) to spanish, and to publish the result in other webs and FF communities. I'm not sure if asking for permission is really necesary, but guessed it was the polite thing to do.

Obviously, I'll make clear that the source of the information is TheLifrestream, even quoting the author's nicknames if possible. (And leaving a link to the original source).

Lastly, huge thanks to Squall_of_SeeD and Makoeyes987 for the Dissidia Plot FAQ and Disssidia 012 plot analysis!

I think we did consider the idea of translating content into other languages. Dont think it went anywhere. If you did decide to do it, we could even incorporate your translations into this site. Spanish would be a great language to have stuff translated to :)

I would read in English first, for some reason I prefer to read stuff in English first.

I think it would be great if some of our stuff was translated into other languages, and I agree with Pixel that posting the translations on this site as well could be a great idea. I know I'm not really staff here or anything, but I do have a suggestion: maybe you could also provide us with the links to the posts you make using our content, so we can see it on the other sites you use as well?

Also, welcome! Feel free to join in on the discussions going 'round the forums!

I agree it'd be a good idea to host it here also, good step towards enticing new people etc.

I don't mind it, as long as the translators are okay with you re-translating etc. Of course, not that it really matters, seeing that square didn't officially say they're okay with translations either, but :monster:.

I would like the translations to appear on our site as well though; of course, any links you'd like us to add to your site / the crossposted sites / whichever can be added to it, not a problem.

Thanks for your interest and compliments, Akira1444. I certainly give you my permission to translate anything I have posted here. All I ask for in return is the credit you've already promised, and for you to provide us with a link to your translations so we may do what others in this thread have suggested/requested in hosting your translations here as well.

And, as Yop/Cthulhu said, we would be happy to provide a link back to whatever site you're hosting your translated material on as well.

Well, I'm certainly glad the topic got so much attention and really like the idea of having my translation hosted on TheLifestream. I'll begin the work right away, probably starting with the Dissidia articles since so much of that information is unkown to a lot of fans. (hope makoeyes and squall of seed are ok with it :P)

I understand that some people, dispite being spanish-speakers, may prefer to read the original english source, but I'm doing this mainly for the fans who actually don't know english and therefore can't access to this info.

Oh, and by the way, when I'm finished with the translation, where or to whom should I post it/send it?. Also, thanks to everyone for the warm welcoming :)
